Faith brings joy. Yahwe knew the heart of his servant Job and that of Satan the accuser. The stage was set as Yahweh volunteered Job to be the one who would prove Satan wrong. How could Yahweh have used Job in this way? It seems somewhat cruel. Perhaps the answer lies in the way we understand suffering. We usually see suffering as an almost crippling tragedy. But suffering can be a pathway to maturity. See chapter 42, verse one through five
