COMPARE & DESPAIR | In The News - How to stop a comparison spiral

article image placeholderUploaded by @hope
I think the number one thing to do is to turn off the stimulus around you, whether it be social media or magazines or televisions or even the people around you, and meditate and go back into a mindset that you are focusing and committed to you and who you are. Create a list of things that you know are unique to yourself. And it's really a discipline. It takes some serious grit to say, I am going to stop this. It's making me feel miserable

No Role Models.

Becoming a man and entering the workforce and pretty much any time in my life, it's because that men face this all the time, of even our fathers, big brothers, whatever it is, our friends, we just try to alpha male each other. And like you're saying, you look at figures that you aspire to, to be, and the tendency is to be like, well, that can never be me. And that was a good wrap up for your statement

The Tao Te Ching 8 and 9

I'm a big fan of the Tao de Ching. I have a copy of a new english version by Stephen Mitchell, currently reading it aloud on swell. But I. As I was reading it, I found the two chapters or two pages that I would like to quote for this. For compare and despair. It's eight and nine from the dow to Ching. Number eight, the supreme good is like water, which nourishes all things without trying to

They're going to complain about me. They're going to bitch about me. And then it would basically be a cycle in my head. And now, yes, it would affect my teaching, because then I was like, oh, my gosh, what the hell am I doing? I don't know how to teach. But it was this whole cycle. I went down and I took a walk one day, and I remembered what my advisor had told me, my mentor

Hey, Leanne. I was just thinking about how teachers in particular are in such powerful positions to impact this conversation in subtle and not so subtle ways with regard to the people you reach and connect with in the classroom, because it's one of the basic things we could teach is self esteem and the idea of everyone's unique. And your story really reflects how important it is for that to be genuine to you before you pass it on to anyone you're working with. Really moving

By doing so, you were able to boost your self esteem and create meaningful and loving spaces for children who felt just like you did when entering a new role. Your story highlights the importance of teaching with empathy and understanding, and I believe it can serve as an inspiration to other educators. Overall, your narrative is compelling and I appreciate the insight you shared. Well done

@hope Comes down to a failure in humanity 😔 #validation #selfawareness #comparison #compare #people #DEI

And in the blink of an eye, the people who loved you most can despise you the most. So it's leaving people to feel very lost, very much like they have no safe ground to stand upon, because they have never taken the proper time to figure out what is life meaning for them and what feels good for them

And when you have a partnership with someone in your family who knows you so well, to be able to kind of give you that amazing experience, hold your head up and look in the mirror and look at how gorgeous you are. And the world is sort of right now in a place that is so loud with messaging that has nothing to do with what you just talked about

@hope It starts at home 🏡 #thankyou #momandson #mothers #homelife #people #connection #empowerment

And when it comes to empowerment, a lot of times I think parents overly assume that their child is able to kind of come to thoughts of feeling very confident and finding ways to build themselves up. But what they miss is that we send out our children into a world where who knows what those other children and what those other people they're exposed to are hearing and experiencing. So they need grounding in their home and in their home life
