SOICIAL ISOLATION | #TellYourStory - When did the company of others feel like life saver to you?

article image placeholderUploaded by @hope
Welcome to where the light gets in. Today we're talking about social isolation. And I wanted to ask if you could tell a story about a time when you were in the company of others. And that experience felt like a lifesaver to you. I wanted to hear stories about this because I do think that throughout life, there are moments when somebody walks in and it's the perfect time, and their company is just the thing that saves you

And the person who showed up and really changed those things is my son. And he's only two months old. He's about to be three months on the first. And I'm so proud of him. I mean, he hasn't done anything at all, and I'm just proud. He's blowing spit bubbles at home right now, and I couldn't be more excited, but he really shook me up just because just dealing with a baby, he is relentless

And when it comes in the package of a little person, that's even better. And I'm really happy that you're able to just appreciate that little tiny ecosystem that you're a part of. It's just wonderful. Thank you

Hey Derek, I just wanted to say thank you for your comment and your words about your son and how he has helped you become round into who you are, I guess. And your story was hilarious this and heartwarming and beautiful. And one day your son's going to listen to this and be really proud of his father. So keep that in mind. Save this somewhere so he can listen to it and see and hear why he became what he became. And I will threw you

But for myself, I would say that during this whole grief, from where it started, when my daughter passed away, being around others was very important. They created spaces for me, but gave me grace. I cannot say what anybody's grief or healing journey is, because everybody is different. I know for myself that it just continues. I continue to learn how to cope. Of course, I will never. I think grief is lifelong

I work a lot, but I, you know, I don't, I feel like I've gotten used to this life of isolation, you know, and I don't know how to have friends or be around people. It's very difficult for me. Very difficult. Especially when you've lived this long of being this way. How do you go back to trying to have a normal life and have friendships? And I don't even know how to do that. Where do you begin?

I feel like conversations on swell lend themselves to connecting, and especially when you reply to something and you reply to this, and there are so many conversations that sort of open up a potential community around that conversation, which sounds bizarre, but it's actually something that could be quite healing for people who are feeling isolated, because the voice carries a lot of emotion, a lot of connectivity between you and me are having it right now, so I'm happy you're here at swell, and maybe you'll feel a connection here through replying to others and creating your own swells, and hopefully you'll hear this as well
