FUTURE TRIPPING | In The News - From Psychology

If you are at peace, you are living in the present. It's a very powerful thing to hear something that's so black and white like that. And it puts me to shame a little bit. I'm like, wow, it's so easy to do that and say that, but I have a tendency to future trip. I have a tendency to think about how I can paint my future and what it will look like. But the canvas that's in front of me is right now

You. Well, that is definitely an excellent topic. And we all are guilty of this. Living in the past and the future and trying to just be at peace. Like, even with our brain sitting on the couch. Like, I'm sitting on the couch right now, and my brain has. Even after reading this, it's like, I had just talked to my daughter, and she wants me to move to her area to be near my grandson, and I want to also

Hey, Susie, I really like this reply because you just triggered a great memory of mine being present and not future, tripping around a moment that could be all about planning. What do we do now? And what do we do now? And it has to do with my dad and I doing a boating trip and our catamaran went aground and we needed someone to help us out because we couldn't balance it out

Because we forget it because we're so either tied down in the past or worried about the future, and we forget that the present moment is all we've got. So again, my mantra it that I try to remember is the present moment is the greatest gift. Thanks

But what I can imagine a good one might be, and you might need a reference for it will be squirrel. Just squirrel. So I don't know if you've ever seen the movie up, but it's one of my favorite animated films. There was a dog, and he'd be super hyper concentrated on whatever it is they're doing. He's really hyper. He's ready to go

So, yeah, this quote is great. And living in the past will definitely make you depressed because you'll have a lot of regrets about what could I have done differently that may have changed what I'm experiencing today? What if I had made this decision versus that decision? Or can I go back to a time where I could have certain people back in my life or certain experiences back in my life?

And then in terms of holding on to tangibility, because the thing is, both of those events happen in the brain, which is strange like they happen in the brain. So because you mentioned a chinese philosopher, I believe one of my top heroes is mu. Susi mukami. No, not Muakami. Musashi Miyamoto, my apologist. But I love the artist, too. Musashi Miyamoto. Or I forget which order you should say it. Miyamoto Musashi with Tanya. One of his books
