COMPARE & DESPAIR | #TellYourStory

article image placeholderUploaded by @hope
It could have been in a moment where you were confronted with a huge challenge, and the way you handled it was so much about who you are. These are the things I want to celebrate today in our day of telling stories about this topic. Compare and despair. When did you realize that that comparison was not even remotely important? What was important and was your unique presence? And talk about that uniqueness. I look forward to hearing this. Thanks

And at the end of that shift, I got a call from my sister bawling her eyes out. And she told me that my mom was going into emergency brain surgery. And at first I didn't know how to handle it. I just said, well, just was calm and tried to be a positive reassurance that everything was going to be okay. But I didn't know if everything was going to be okay. It was just what my auto reply was

And this is the difference between children, boys and men, right? I was a child. So anyways, we go on the date, and we go to the movies, right? We go to the movies. And she had said, right, maybe we can go see a movie. And we come back and eat. Now, what she said was stuck in my mind. As far as I was concerned, that was the plan

See, my roommate and my boyfriend at the time thought it would be funny for him to hide in my bedroom and space me when I got home from class. It was not funny. I was so terrified, I can't even explain because I had no idea that it was my boyfriend and that I wasn't in actual real danger. But the point of this is that we all have a lot of bluster, right? And we all say that we'll do things in situations

Your uniqueness shone through of course, but also I wonder afterwards the reparations from that experience how were you able to compose yourself and be forgiving? What a bad call on their part to frighten you like that. It sounds terrifying. Anyway, I'm really excited. It's amazing when we see our strength it's like nothing like it. Someone else might have reacted a different way but this is about you and you seeing yourself and being proud of how you showed up. Amazing. Bye
