My #DEAR- The love songs of W.E.B Dubois by Honoree fanonne Jeffers

article image placeholderUploaded by @highonchai
I think Love Songs was that book for me. I had the wonderful yet heartbreaking time with Ailey and her family. Spanning back over her ancestral teenage, this book details the horrifying past left by black and indigenous people in deep south of America. The deep set generational trauma and abhorrent events of slave trade are all too real. I think what Jeffers has brought to life in this novel isn't just any old tale. It's deeply personal and an insight into her own ancestral teenage

But when I see long books, sometimes I feel like it takes off the pressure of finding something to read next, so it's nice. I still read books better, like analog books. I don't read them digitally. And I'm about to take a bit of a flight, so I was thinking about a book to take on the plane, and that's might be a little too heavy for me, but I'll definitely bring it to my bedside table at some point in the future

Aria, thanks for sharing this review with me. I had not heard about this book earlier, but your review did prompt me now to go looking for it. And yes, I do feel 800 pages are a little daunting. But, yeah, I would look for this book. And once I had the chance to read it through, maybe I will go back to your post and share my thoughts again. Thank you
