Should Your Partner’s Diet Change Because Yours Have?🤔

article image placeholderUploaded by @SoulJourney1K
Hey, this is Erica souljourney one k. Quick question. How many of you agree that if your diet changes, your partner's diet should change? I'm asking this because I do hear often that people, they change when their partners change and for the better. I'm very blessed that my husband and I pretty much have the same diet. But how many of you agree that the partner should change with you and vice versa? I just want to know. All right, thank you

People don't even recognize or realize that I'm the same person that was in that 300 pound picture as I am now. And I'm not a skinny girl. I'm still plus size. And I really don't care for being I don't really want to be real thin, but I do want to be healthier and that's what means the most to me. But that journey was hard and then now me trying to get back on the journey

So one of them, if one is being healthy, the other should be healthy as well. So, again, you should definitely be a reflection of each other. When it comes to food, it's all about moderation and interestingly with myself, I've used myself as an example now when I was 17, going on 18, that's when I was diagnosed with diabetes. So there's always like restrictions and a special way of eating with that

But what I can tell you is that if my partner isn't okay with that, that's fine. But they need to be able to either go buy themselves their own food they're going to eat every day, or they need to be able to prepare their own food. I'm not going to make two separate meals every time I cook just because they don't want to eat clean just as an example, right? Does that make sense?

But then I remember people saying, well, you're supposed to change when your partner changed because you're one. And I'm like, well, that sounds really good in theory, and it's rare. I'm in a relationship where it's one of those rare occasions where we eat the same things anyway. But what about those people who want to continue to eat certain food? Should they just stop? So I'm glad that you brought in your perspective about support and encouragement

Hey, thanks, Al, for chiming in. And yes, it's all about inspiring one another. Not necessarily changing the person or forcing them to, but it's all about inspiring each other. And I forgot that you told me that you I think you said that you had the diabetes one time before. Or dialysis, if you don't mind me asking. Is it type one or type too? Because that might have just slipped my mind. But either way, I thank you for responding

So I definitely agree with that because it doesn't need to be any combativeness. It doesn't have to be all that bad energy if they don't want to get on board. Which is perfectly fine because everyone's different and everyone has a different path and different timing. But if they don't want to get on board, they can certainly fix their own food. So I totally agree with you and thank you again for responding

But now I'm type two now and again with the medication that I'm taking. And being on dialysis is sort of helping things to keep intact. And I still have to continue to do my part and try to make sure that my numbers are good. Do my best not to have go overboard in regards to the eating because with food I'm finicky anyway. I'm very detail oriented on how I like to have my things prepared and then just the portion size in regards to what I eat

If I'm not doing the spinning bicycle, I do pilates or I walk. Those are the three things I like to do, and those have been helping me keep my numbers so far. So yeah. Thank you so much for sharing that. I do appreciate that

Not saying I have issues with my pancreas, but they said if they work on the pancreas as well, I won't only have to get the kidney fixed, but also I'll be able to eliminate the diabetes as well. So all of that sounds great. And I'm actually going to the hospital on the 29th of this month to go for my pancreas evaluation

Hey, Erica. Good morning. I don't think that we have to have the same exact diet. I just would like for us to have the same desire to be healthy. So whatever that looks like, as far as if that's vegan eating for me or and if that's keto for him, which are two polar opposite diets, then that's fine. I mean, if that's what works, because I don't want him to try to adopt an eating habit

You. Hey, Erica, this is Becky from Visions Expression. And I just read your question. Should your partner's diet change? Because yours has. And I'm assuming that's going one person going for from unhealthy eating into healthy eating versus healthy eating into non healthy eating. But I don't think your partner's diet should change because yours has. I think you're both on whatever path you're on. You like what you like. Food is food

You're. Hey, Al. Yes. My prayers are definitely going to be with you, because even though I don't know you or anyone on this Swell app very well, like, on a face to face basis, I feel that we're growing the Swell family. And I want to invite you to Ascending to Healthy, which is a private Swell group that I opened up for those who want to talk about physical health and things like that

And so I make sure, like, for example, I make sure I don't put, like, spices in certain meals, whereas I can handle spices, I don't include different spices in his meals. And that's fine because I don't have to have spice. So for me is no big deal. But, yeah, in those relationships where the person is saying, you have to eat what I eat, that's very difficult because everyone's body requires something different

And this goes also for other lifestyle changes. I just focused on food, to be specific, but this definitely goes for other lifestyle changes as well. Everyone has their own individual path. And so on that path, it's going to be things that are unique to you that you find. I find that on my path, I like to walk more or do Pilates, different things like that. I do like to get dancing videos and such, but I'm more into low impact type of workouts
