What do you do that helps you build Patience?

article image placeholderUploaded by @garyplaysbone
And I'm curious, what have you been doing to learn patience? And what have you been doing that requires patience? I'd love to hear the stories. Any other musicians out there or people who are learning some kind of art, that takes a long time. That takes a lot of patience. One more story. I visited the japanese gardens at I forgot which park it was. Balboa park in San Diego

Waiting in Joy

I'm not sure how I connected to that phrase, but somehow when I encountered it, it changed something inside of me. Maybe there were things inside of me that was waiting to be connected with this idea of waiting in joy. Waiting in joy. And so, as Eckhart Tolle instructed, there are times when I go to places and folks do say, I'm sorry to keep you waiting. And we say, it's all right, we are waiting. Enjoy. We're sitting and waiting

And so the more recent piece, it's harder to see the time or patience, you could say, of what's involved in manipulating the ink as it dries. So I wouldn't necessarily say that this practice creates patience, but as a result of having patience, it allows me to create, if you will,

On Acorn Bay. That's a really cool. You know what? You always have this interesting language that you offer. Waiting. Enjoy. I love it. And in fact, today I was waiting for something, and I was thinking, you know what? I'm waiting. Enjoy. This can be enjoyable. Anticipating something going on, anticipating some future event, that's always something that can be positive and. Yeah, that's cool. Thanks so much for contributing. I appreciate it

And I think I see human images in the circular forms, and it's like something like a Rorschach exam, where you see these ink blots and you see things in them that might not actually exist. But, yeah, I am fascinated by this art that I would imagine requires an incredible amount of patience just to move the ink around and wait for it to seep into the paper

Maybe because her minds are empty at that point of life, but I think there's something to be said for that. But anyway, I enjoy listening to your podcast and talk to you soon. Bye

@SeekingPlumb The Womb.

However, that was a lot of money, and I learned to do it myself, and then I did it for years. So when I do it, it's a sitting for hours. It'll take you all day to do it when you're doing this braiding. And that became. I don't know, I was doing a lot of thinking. You were definitely sitting still. You were definitely alone because you didn't want anybody to see you with your hair not done. No
@SeekingPlumb

@OnAcornBay

And so to get all of the little ones to do just what you want them to do on your own head, I'm always impressed when somebody can either cut their own hair or do something like the braids, and I'm just, wow. Yeah, you inspired me. I think I'll do a swell on the type of ink it is and the art and so on. And I love how there's these feminine forms that have come out in these particular pieces as well

There's a whole process that I use that my teacher taught me about how to really dive deep into learning a song. And I'm not just talking about learning the melody. That's just one of the many steps so that I can get up on a stage in front of an audience without thinking too deeply, play the tune, improvise on the tune, and sound good, and that's a whole process

And they say that in my culture, in Jamaicans, they have all kinds of thoughts about the hair. And if you don't let anybody take a piece of your hair when it falls out and all kinds of stuff, and that the person who works on your hair, your hairdresser, does transmit some kind of energy there. And so you're careful about who gets on your head because they get in your head kind of thing

And I had like a collection of, I don't know, at least ten or 15 songs that I could just play by memory with really no serious issues. And I guess now, as I try to just memorize one song and find all those challenges and difficulties in doing just one song, I think back to that time and it naturally just frustrates me and I lose patience

Like, all that's involved and doing it yourself, just. Wow. I really appreciated your reflections on the process. And yeah, I really did. And it's interesting when you mentioned that maybe the colors too, or the density or the transparency or what have you might play a factor in the femininity too. I know that I usually prefer the cooler toned colors, blues, teals, purples, but sometimes you need a little something brighter to pop. Right?

You. I really love the melding of these conversations between braiding hair and how much patience it takes and the unbraiding of hair and the practice of music. And, yeah, cool. What's nice about this app as well is that there's a lot of really interesting comments and cool stories that come together other in unpredictable ways. But thank you all for chiming in and, yeah, great to hear from you all

It's a lot in gardening, and I feel like that has taught me a lot of patience in the last couple of years, waiting for that leaf to uncurl. I have a leaf. I don't believe I have a picture on my camera that I can show you now, but I have a plant at home, and its leaf has been just in the tip of unfurling, and it's been like that for almost three weeks. It's about to get there

Hey, mama Socal, thanks so much for your response. You know, this prompt I put up here a few weeks back, and I was talking about music, and we have people doing art with alcohol based ink. We have to wait for the ink to seep into the paper. Really cool stuff. And you've got your gardening, which you're right. You have to wait a while for the flower to bloom or the plant to grow or the leaf to unfurl

SCOTUS Jackson on patience during the confirmation. https://s.swell.life/SU87JCOVkQkzGGK

I've already made some adjustments to my sales and I've just had an understanding of parts of me that it's like just a little tweak and it's very cool. I've been experiencing a lot of these tweaking moments, adjusting of the sale moments here on swell. So here is Justice Brown. Jackson. Brown, Brown, Jackson. And in times of stress and I imagine a whole need for patience. Here's one way, this is how she gets there. Enjoy

Hey, Shawna on Acorn Bay, great to have you here. Always good to hear your charisma. You always have a lot of interesting language and ideas to share. Ketanji Brown Jackson, you know, I was reading about the Supreme Court proceedings that are going on right now. Oh, boy. Yeah. Thanks for pointing out, Justice Brown Jackson what it kind of has to do with patience

And thank you very much, Gary Bones. I love being here with you. It's so much fun, and your energy is just. It's musical. That's cliche, but it isn't. It is musical, and I love dropping by and having this fun. You have a wonderful weekend
