DEVICE FREE Day

article image placeholderUploaded by @Gamechanger
That means we are going to keep away our phones and tablets away for a day. It is a day when you spend more time with your family and friends. Enjoy your time in nature. Enjoy the life of early 1990s. We have observed that on device free day, the day seems to have lot many hours than usual. Your life will have lesser disruptions, making it more productive and you won't even miss being away from your devices

That makes us realize that how much we are unknown to our own self, what we want actually in a day to spend a time, a quality time with ourselves, our family, our loved ones. It's really a good assessment when you get away from some things like this like device or social platforms getting the ways. For now what I do is when it comes to specifically WhatsApp people are so much available on WhatsApp

Thank you for your time. Vinaya, thank you for going through the podcast and taking the time to respond to me. I'm really glad that you're making an effort to have the device free day. Yes. I believe that we should not be oversharing on social media. Plus, you know, yes, what I do is I have muted all the notifications, so that really helps

However, my however, my screen time is not as much. It's around 5 hours and that's also a lot. I don't count it as less it might be less comparative to in comparison to other people who have like 8 hours, 9 hours, 12 hours of screen time. Mine is around my hovers around five to 6 hours. But there was a time when I was not using WhatsApp and I was not using Instagram. I haven't been using Facebook since 2016

But for daily needs, a device is must. And for communication, a device is must. But you should always keep your phone idle for some time, otherwise it may crash. And all important work also goes on with a mobile. Device free day day is a good idea, but not totally a device free day. Using of less mobile is always welcome because it creates eye strain, foggy eyes, eye pain, neck pain, joint pains

You. Thank you for getting back to me. And yes, not having a device throughout the day is always good. But if you cannot, then you can at least ration your time on the device. Yes. Keep it for emergencies. That's true. Even if you have a device free day, it doesn't mean that if there's an emergency, you don't use it. Yeah, that's definitely the most practical thing to do

Thank you, Mashi. Thank you for getting back to me on this. Yes, it is. One can definitely do it like intermittent fasting and we can always ration our time on the device. And one thing is that we can prioritize whom we want to get back to and we don't have to respond to every notification or text that comes immediately

Hi Ranjana actually, this concept Device Free Day is really a wonderful concept because we know every day our day starts with devices our day ends with devices and just imagining few hours without a device is also really, really terrible. And this concept let me tell you the truth. Tried having a device free day many times, but still I was not so successful because of many reasons. But I feel we need to have that limitation

Thank you, Gauri. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your views. I'm glad that you agree with me. And, yeah, you know, it really is required because, you know, we need to focus on some of sathe important things in life, and this is like a distraction. It may be a good distraction at times, but then it should not be our only distraction, and it should not distract us for hours together
