When will Social Media become ancient and played out?

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
I was speaking with a good friend of mine about social media and how long I have been on it. I've been on social media now for the better part of 20 years, and it's gone through a lot of different phases to where I am now talking with all of you. And I wonder, when will it end? When will this go the way of the Collekovision video game Council in favor of something else?

Has humanity reached it’s peak of socialization?

Maybe...10-15 years?

Because even though I do believe you are older than me, my definition of social media would probably go as far as back as well, dial up in which people got into chat rooms and then a little bit after that became aim. So when I look at social media, I think about social media. I think about the earliest days of AOL, where you just go into chat rooms

We become ancient 😂 @JJTrue @FryedOreo

Hey everyone, great question. But I think social media will not become ancient, but we will we are getting older. But, you know, so I think in this moment of time because we had the pandemic, we saw this huge increase of social media and social audio in particular. But now when more and more countries get rid of their mandates and restrictions, everything is open again. So people are out and about and especially at least over here with this beautiful spring weather

Thank you @Professor42

And that is social media that is comprised of one who is connecting with the world, one who is connecting with the world via challenges, via memes, via information, news, et cetera. And I believe this is the mainstream version of social media as we know it, being Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, et cetera. This is what a lot of people have come to know is social media. But then there's the other social media

Thank you @Debaprasad25 and @UnityEagle

Social media has become for me over these last year just become somewhat of a daily data that I can take in and observe and understand that, oh, this is what I repeat and this is when I took a chance, this is when I took a gamble, et cetera sort of thing. But anyway, Dev, yeah, social media probably is going to be around for a very long time, but as the social media we know, it is probably not going to be the same thing

@FryedOreo

Hello, Dewuan. Oh, my coconut. That brought me back to the past where I can remember that I first sign up myself into social site called adventurer justice. And that was really popular at that time. And everyone wanted to use that. Everyone wanted to have that. So. Well, that was good old days. And then there was MySpace and MSN, which one could message with other friends and there was ICQ two, which is just like MSN

Thank you @Nora

So Facebook in a lot of cases is akin to like Walmart and McDonald's is something that's familiar and ubiquitous and everybody knows it and knows how to use it and all their friends and family are there that's all they need and will this incentive keep social media from accelerating in terms of innovation? Beyond simply just exchanging memes and making live videos and all that sort of stuff? I guess only time can tell. But thank you, Nora for your contributions to this topic
