The Teletransportation Paradox

article image placeholderUploaded by @FryedOreo
Would you still be you if someone else was you? Let's take another experiment. If I was to transport my memories and thoughts and everything about me into your brain, and you did the same into mine, am I still me, or am I someone else entirely? Thoughts. Experiment on identity and Persona through philosophy. Thank you for listening

At what point do you end and begin, as an identity? As a self? #identity #persona #philosophy

Ah. First of all, let me just say that this is a very interesting thought experiment. And by the way, that's a very cool gif of Al Roker. Is it Gif or Gif? Anyway, so I'm of the opinion that there's only one original. I am the original. So if I'm duplicated, I'm no longer me. I'm something. I'm an experiment. I was recreated

Because major, right at the end of her life as a physical being, she was aware of the jump, as in when she got the upload of her brain, her mind was uploaded, not her brain. So, like, we make the assumption in this type of technology Sci-Fi world that there's a mind attached. No, there's a brain attached to a mind, as in there is like, if you watch the movie, the perfect example of this is the movie surrogate too

That it was never really yours at all, but instead was a conditioning of nature, a conditioning of the human nature and reality for humans that creates this paradox in which if I was to go through this machine and this other duan, he would not be me anymore. Right? And I think you alluded to that as well. That would be a different Dewan. Because the moment that Dewan opens its eyes, it's a different experience altogether

And I think the memory is still there, but maybe it's in the unconscious state. It's not easily accessible at times. And that's where we can have repressed thoughts. Right? Repressed memories and emotions that come out later within something else that we don't know why we made that decision. You know, we don't know why

He is literally your version of a dream that you get to use to observe another person's reality that actually, at any given point in time, if you happen to be good enough to get to the real ending of the game, you determine that this individual actually knew you were controlling him, and he then tells you he was in control of not only him, but you because he was observing all of your actions in the game, only to tell you that they were all useless, and you're in the middle of nowhere on Mars

And the monkey could control a interface with just his mind, though he thought he was using his hand. His hand was moving the controller, but his mind was moving the interface

It threw by thinking off kilters, like, wow, where do we go from here? So, as I'm saying, it forced me to consider things from a different perspective. And if that is the case, then there's so much more. It's almost as if debating the idea of there's no beginning and there's no end. You see how our minds cannot wrap around that concept. And I think it's the same for the idea that we may not be the original

And maybe it's a bit more complicated than that and the best we can do is the best we can do to answer. But a lot of the great science fiction films and books and Philip K. Dick and all the stuff he's done for the genre are what makes me so happy to ponder these sort of thoughts

Ray, what you've just stated is the main purpose for why I love doing these things, why I love social audio. And that is not to create a circle of thought where I'm only right, but to examine that circle of thought and wonder, why is it there?

Now imagine what they'll do to you mentally. Psychologically. I mean, imagine. Yeah, you're not gonna be yourself, you know, a part of you will, but it will, over time, probably fundamentally, fundamentally change you. And if you continue doing this, over time, you may even become a different person, you know, entirely. But, yeah, man, awesome. Swell. Like, always. Peace out

Yeah, Scifi has gave us countless great stories of this. Right. And usually with Sci-Fi when there's different versions of a person, there tends to be different personalities, and it kind of makes sense. Right? If there's a lot of versions of you, why would they be all the same? But what if they were? What if nothing was different? There's just many versions of you
