One year later: "Flaws"

article image placeholderUploaded by @FromSilence
I'm doing something a little different today. I have not yet picked which of my poems to share for today's entry, but today is a special day to me. One year ago today, I shared my first poem online on Instagram in a way that I'd never had before. So because of that, I wanted to give that particular poem

You. I just want to say that I really enjoyed this poem. It made me think about my flaws, and you made flaws seem very, very beautiful and welcome. And it's a really good poem. Thank you. And also, how did you put your poem on Instagram? Is there a way to do that? Appreciate you letting me know. Thanks again

Ah, thank you so much for having something positive to say about my poem. It's really meaningful to me that someone else appreciated and especially the fact that the message got through because the actual goal I had was to show the way that flaws can lead to more value in something through uniqueness. The best example, and that would be the diamond, is diamonds are valuable to begin with, but if you find one with a color to it, that color is an impurity. It's a flaw

It is beautifully relatable to anybody from people who value their flaws to people who loathe their flaws as well. But I think it was very honest and congratulations as well on the milestone. I know that today is not the day that you initially posted it, but that's really awesome. I'm trying to share my own work and different things in different spaces

And it's always show, don't say, because you want people to feel it rather than just being told what they're supposed to feel. So the fact that you can actually okay, some of my work is intentionally obscure. I write things in poetry that I can't deliver directly, that's almost everything I write is something like that. Unless it's a nature poem or something like that, because then it's really just reflecting on something else
