Guest Host on @film : David Hausen

article image placeholderFilmmaking with messages and mojo
It's going to be really fun to invite different filmmakers to this Opensqlcast channel. And today I want to introduce a guest host named David Housing, and I'm going to link you to his website here. David, David just recently posted something on LinkedIn about a beautiful sort of public service announcement he produced. And it made me think about his entire career as somebody who's done equal amounts of documentaries and corporate and television

Thank you, Deborah, for that wonderful introduction. I'll do my best to try and live up to the expectations that you set. So the project you're referring to is for the Stanley Misa Center, which is a not for ProfitIt on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. And they focus on the needs of children, low income families, out of school and out of work youth as well as helping out the aging New Yorkers and the elderly in the community, especially for homebound elderly people

How do you get the right information from clients to create magic? @Surreel

And they say, hey, David, we want, like, a two minute video to help people understand who we are. Can you briefly talk about what's worked for you in terms of that intake process? It's like an onboarding of people's partnership in the creation. They want you to do what you do. You're the professional, you're the storyteller, but you need things from them in order to succeed. How do you make that happen?

So when a client first engages with us, what we're trying to decipher from them is what is their purpose in reaching out to us to make a video? Are they trying to do this to raise awareness for their organization or the community they serve, or are they using it as a fundraising tool? How they're going to be distributing it? How is it going to be shown? Is it going to be with a captive audience?

Hey, David. Two years later, I'm standing next to you, not ashamed at all. Things take time. And you are the epic storyteller here at the Adage event. And I want to ask you how it's been to be around this particular community? And what's your connection to the whole UTA conversation? Hello
