Hey, what's up, everybody? Good morning. I want to hear your opinion on schooling and degrees. I want you guys, let's have a discussion here. I'm not going to have, like, a like an opinion heating on the matter. I just want to hear everybody else's opinion. But is school even really important right now? I mean, College not necessarily like high school or anything like that. Is a degree really important right now
It's so so hard to get a job that is going to pay more than what you would call, I guess, a living wage. That's not to say at all that it can't be done. There's tons of examples of people who didn't go to College that did well. But the way that everything is currently set up with hiring, the prevalence of sites like LinkedIn
Sometimes you might find somebody who gets that and they will give you an opportunity to prove yourself. But so far, I think we're still in a world where most jobs are going to require you to have that formal training and that piece of paper from the end of that training. So I think we are increasingly moving toward a world. Excuse me, where people will understand if you have colleges are moving to online. They have to now because of the pandemic and they're increasingly moving their offerings online

These are things like Coursera edx and the likes where people can sign in online into a course. And because of that, they are able to scale the class size and the cost is also a lot cheaper. There are three things I really love about MOOCs. One is barrier to entry is very low, so even if you're mildly interested in a topic, you can just jump in and try to see if you like it or not

So I definitely believe that it depends on what you want to do in life. And I think that a lot of 18 year olds have no idea what they want to do in life, so I can see how it would be important for things like Mocs and using a portfolio instead of a resume
