The Importance of Pruning Relationships

article image placeholderUploaded by @Dr.J
Overall, pruning for plants and trees helps to bring about a more natural shape and promotes healthier growth. The same is true of relationships. No matter what type of relationship it is, whether it's romantic, a friendship, family members, coworkers, et cetera. We need to be in the habit of pruning things that no longer serve us, that bring down our energy and that add absolutely no value to our lives

Plants, trees and bushes aren’t the only things that need pruning. Relationship do too.

But at the end of the day, I do think that we should always be striving to surround ourselves with the best possible people that bring out the best in us and also, hopefully, we bring out the best in them. In other words, it's almost like raising the bar. We need to grow continually learn, and that's all part of our relationships. So it's learning how to properly heal from removing those toxic or bad relationships is something I think I know I personally struggle with

And I'm going to do it this week because you reminded me. And I love that there is a trick to making these assessments swell without too much emotion, because I do think that we justify a lot of discomfort sometimes with people that are not appropriate for us. We kind of make room for the positive, and that's always great. But there are emotional gymnastics required to have people in our lives who are not really giving us just the easy connection

I think just to add on to that, that the sooner we recognize that a relationship really isn't good for us or that it's really not adding any value, maybe we're pulling more weight in the relationship or we're giving so much or bending and just not being ourselves as much just to be in or to make the relationship work

So I take part of the blame. I take part of the blame in it, but I'm getting better and better at knowing and getting things out of the way so that I can have healthier, stronger, more effective connections and relationships. And thank you so much for replying. I know this time of year a lot of us are doing spring cleaning. And this is a part of kind of my cleaning out process. Plus, I'm a gardener. I like to garden
