How Do You Feel About Pitchfork Rescoring Albums?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Dominique
I don't know how to feel about it personally, because on one hand, I see it as a way of going back and admitting that they were wrong about an album or that their music taste has changed over the years. And they see this old album in a new light. And I don't think that's a bad thing per se, but it just feels disingenuous

@Dominique

So I think our interaction with albums are constantly in flux, constantly changing based on what's going on inside of us, what's going on in the world around us. And I think that change shouldn't mean that the album is now bad or the album is good. Our interaction with it has changed. And sometimes I think when you write a review, you can cover certain things that are objective, like production, songwriting, the quality of the instruments or how well they're playing the instruments

Admitting to their humanity?

Hi, Dominique, you have some really great questions today. So this is my second reply to you. I skipped right ahead. I haven't listened to the other replies just because I have to get dinner going. But I do think it's interesting. I think it's important from an accountability perspective for the music critic to be able to say that they overlooked something. It's too often that they are held in the status of gods, and that's a really old school role

@JLMcMillan I think that’s a huge part of it!

And down the line, we realize how important what that artist was doing really well. I can think of many instances in my own life. I used to be a music critic, probably for about six or seven years, for a few different heavy metal publications. Over those years, I reviewed albums. Let's put it this way at the beginning of my career doing that, I would review albums that at the end of my career, I would never touch
