But I do have to say that I think if a man approached me in a compassionate way, that would have caught my interest because I needed a lot of compassion, and I didn't have that. So I think I would have if somebody did. That's my thought on that. Thanks for your share. It was really great. Bye

I get to talking to residents that haven't been talked to in a month, to months, to a year, and I notice when they do get a chance to finally say anything at all to me, they're so relieved. They kind of spill out everything that they have to say all at once. And it's because to some extent, they think they'll never be able to say it again

I want him to be able to know the difference between me just criticizing him, lecturing him, and sincerely saying, hey, son, look, I'm your dad, and if I'm telling you anything and I'm asking you to listen, it's because I want you to avoid pain in every possible way. And then two, just, like, knowing. It's kind of valid to say that sometimes the younger people just know more than us

You. If I could talk to my 13 year old self, I would say it's not your fault, and tell myself that God is with me. It and try to go through the trauma and the pain at that age rather than shove it down, push it aside, pretend it didn't happen, and then for decades it comes out in other ways. Because little did that 13 year old know she would be in that situation or in a situation like it, where her mouth was closed until she was almost 40 and her life was taken from her.
