The second is that I have a very detailed summary of the plot to start with, which then gets fleshed out into chapters, and then each chapter is then followed through in terms of what needs to be written there. This is especially important because when you're writing a whodunit or a crime, or a detective fiction story, it is important that the plot is consistent and we don't land up with any inconsistencies and issues while writing it
