I don’t like being forced to use my pronouns

Hello. So, I don't like being forced to use my pronouns or to indicate my pronouns. I don't like it. And I'm in a situation where I am a facilitator for training, and as a facilitator, we are supposed to indicate our pronouns. This is all done virtually via zoom, and we are to ask participants to include their pronouns beside their name. Now, when I took this training last year, I do remember the facilitator saying it was optional

But whatever their perspective is on their life and how they choose to be identified or anyone else. I mean, regular straight people choose to be identified. That's just not me. My name is Evelyn. I've only identified as Evelyn, Evelyn or mom. Those are my two pronouns if they want to say that Evelyn or know. So I don't know why we are being assigned this assignment. Because I'm going to fail. Because I'm not going to do it

Whatever. However, in reflection, what I realized is that, for me, I wasn't with it. I'm with it for you, if you want to do that, if you like it, I love it. You know how that saying goes. So, for me, it was something. When it first started in corporate healthcare, I respected it, seeing it, people would add it to their signature in email, and I did not. It was a while before I added mine

Like, I threw in the example of not liking having to bring reusable bags to the grocery store doesn't mean I hate Walmart. Well, I do. Doesn't mean I hate Walmart. Doesn't mean I hate our state for inflicting such a painful tax where we can't have bags. Matter of fact, when I was just in Texas a couple of months ago, I grabbed so many plastic bags from Walmart, it wasn't even funny. I was just like, I'm at self checkout

They wanted equal and civil rights, not you all come over to our side. No. And I think that's my issue with it, because I don't need to identify myself. I'm fully female. No one's ever questioned that. And for those who need to identify, I let people know what's up, please do so, but don't force me to have to do it. So thank you so much for chiming in

@DearAuntyAng Act of inclusion and normalization 🙏🏾 https://s.swell.life/SU7lyDukQuzdBgy

So that's why people, I believe, are kind of really pushing this forward and trying to make society understand that we have to open up our minds around how we identify not only ourselves, but how folks have the right to be identified in public spaces and work professional settings. And so I think it's going to be interesting to see how things go in the next 510 20 plus years. But I hope that folks can more and more just utilize this as a tool for the benefit of others

Like, I don't know what it's like to be a man, nor will I ever. And I'm simply not going to know that I have children. But if there's people that are not parents, they'll never know what it's like to be a parent, and that's okay. They don't have to be a parent. They're just not going to be

@DearAuntyAng Application in Life 😁 #inclusion #diversity

And even if I don't necessarily agree with what folks are doing in the world, I always want to be able to say that I have a helping hand and I'm willing to, even if it means going out of my way to help another community, because I want the same done for me. I want someone to go out of their way and make sure that the diversity candidates in a hiring pool are considering
