Welcome to the Self Care Station

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
And what that is, it could be a bath, it could be a tincture, it could be a trip, whatever. It's such a huge landscape of ideas. So I'm so excited to hear. And this is a place here right now. If you'd like to share some self care ideas that you want to share with us about what you're doing for yourself or ideas that you've heard, do it here

When we care for ourselves we’re better equipped to care for others

Hi there. Okay. So I think the station is absolutely amazing and I am very grateful that this has been made. I, as a College student, sometimes struggle with my self care, and I notice that with my friends as well. I am really looking forward to hearing people posting to the station and learning from a bunch of other people and just overall getting advice about taking care of yourself amongst the other chaos and activity we have in our lives. So thank you for this

No wanting to go to take care of yourself here I am going on and on and on but basically is very important to have and that's all I can see right now. I'm getting tired so I guess I need to deal with this

Have a beautiful weekend and stay safe and covert free. Right? And if you have it, beat it. Vitamin D is one of the main ingredients in the vaccination. So take vitamin D like nobody's business. Selfcare. Definitely make it your business and claim it. All right, thank you. Bye

Self care is a journey nor a destination imo

And I remember very clearly in that moment, I said to myself, I need to figure out what this selfcare thing is. And I thought about doing that. And I arrived at a similar conclusion is that self care is a very broad topic. I mean, your finances affect your self CareCare, your mood affects your self care care, the food you eat affects your selfcare. Your friends and the people you spend time with directly impacts your self care. It's multifaceted

Yes, self care is very much important

So self CareCare is equivalent to selflove because in this era of the people are not loving their own self. That is why they're not taking care of their own self. And at the end of the day, what happens that neither they are having happy in themselves only nor others are happy with them because charity begins at home. And if you're not loving your own self, then how can you love someone else? How can you care about someone else?

Nice friends. Healthcare is very much important. Everyone should do something related self care because we ourselves are very important. We should make us a friend are a default

D***. So, yeah, I was just recently diagnosed with bipolar. It makes a lot of sense because I have a hard time getting along with people. I'm just wondering, is that the same thing for you

But you develop a pattern and the pattern of movement and a way to sort of approach the task of massaging your face. And that pattern sort of sets the mind free and it gets you into this more sort of neutral and calm sense of self and then you have the benefit of a nice fresh massaged face. It's something that you can do for yourself. Sometimes I feel that this idea of self care gets really ensnared in like spa culture and luxury

@JasonDuJour so useful

Hey, Jason, it's Deborah. I just want to thank you for this Swell reply specific to how relevant it is for all of us to kind of make the self care conversation much simpler than it seems to be in the culture of selling services and selling complex creams. Just last night I had dinner with my acupuncturist, a Korean woman who is so lovely and so effective and so amazing. And we talked about the Guaca technique

This seems like an awesome space. I'm excited to explore what comes through here. Here are my small contribution, and that is massager feet. I used to be in the army and I did two tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. And I was on my feet a lot. I ignored the pain and I would just push through. And even though I exited out of the service with not a whole lot of feet problems, my feet hurt all the time

My sister is a reflexologist, and she frequently connects to people who are even at the end of their lives, who really need to be grounded. And there are so many amazing points on your feet that can heal the rest of your body. So I just wanted to say thank you for introducing that here. And maybe at a later point we can have a whole swell about reflexology because it's so fascinating. But I hear you. It's like an easy thing for us to administer ourselves, too

We're always ready to lend a helping hand. Be others when someone needs help. Sometimes self care is how about helping yourself and just go home, just don't help the next person because have you helped yourself yet? Do you even have the resources to help others really? Or are you just shoving your problems down deeper and not even addressing them and just running around helping others when your own home life, shall we say, is raggedy self care?

Music wow. Antonia, I feel your conviction on this one. This was a really passionate reminder that it's not just a phrase, it's got to be adopted as a habit that's truly comes from some self love and from discipline. Thank you for waking me up a little bit today with this. I appreciate it. I look forward to hearing your swells because it feels to me like I you're going to go down the road a little bit with us and I look forward to that

@AntoniaM I loved your comment about "protect your peace"

It's very interesting to me how I'm sitting here at work wait for something to come off the printer. Sorry for the noise in the background, but it's very interesting how you come across something and then suddenly somebody shows up in your life have to prove the point. So I love how you mentioned Beth self care and to protect your peace. Well, this afternoon I got a text message from somebody in my life that's been nagging me to go into therapy

#selfcare #selfsoothe #rituals #honoringourneeds

Hi, Deborah. Thank you so much for creating this station. Self soothing, self carecaring. It all comes down to really just loving ourselves, honoring ourselves, and prioritizing our needs. One of those things that I do, or a couple of the things that I do throughout my day, I have this, actually, as my Todo list for the week. And so I use Pomodoro's technique, which is taking frequent short breaks. What that looks like is I put my alarm on
@DBPardes
Deborah Pardes
@DBPardes · 0:55

@dee.lovegood

But I wanted to just say one that I want to get better at, and you reminded me of it, which is, you know, when we eat, it's a break during the day and we put our phones away and try to establish kind of a sacred time just to be a human being that needs nourishment and get out of our heads a second into our bodies and doing it a little slower, maybe, for me, and with a little more intention and not scarfing it down and sitting down and taking a breath, breathing between bites and just that teeny tiny aspect of it that could be sort of a bit of a ritual, really can help my digestion, help myself, my mind go blank a little bit and really just, I don't know, get back to basics, I guess
@dee.lovegood
Dee Lovegood
@dee.lovegood · 1:20

@DBPardes

Is it's because I will eventually, subconscious, I guess not even subconsciously, but unconsciously find my way to my phone if it's in the same room. It's something that just walk by and pick it up without even realizing it. So I remove it from the space where I'm eating and I sometimes double up and take my food outside

So even if I do get charged, I won't take it to my heart, probably. But yeah, the thing, the problem that I'm having from the last, I would say more than a year, to be honest, but it's just getting worse lately, is that it is my weight. I was always someone who could eat as much as I want, but I've never put on a single pound
@DBPardes

@beautifulchoas

And we're living in such a time of broadcasting ourselves, whether it's zoom or in our private social feeds, that we sometimes lose perspective on that self care of ourselves that includes self love and acceptance and measuring moments very specifically so we can sort of gather up those images and those incremental items that say, yes, we're moving forward. Yes, we were here. We weren't asleep. We did something. We made an effort. And it's really about the micro movements

The best topic of all topics. I lovegood selfcare. I'm the biggest advocate and I'm self care coach. When I started on my healing journey, I have to tell you, I did not like like myself. And I think that's part of not experiencing a good, positive, happy, peaceful, content, alive is because you don't like the space you're in. You don't know who you are. You don't like what you are

It's that reminder that you have to make to say, hey, you know what? I need to take a step back for myself and remember to love myself and soothe myself and be gentle on myself because that's where it starts and that's where beautiful things happen. So thank you for having this page once again, and I look forward to sharing some more and hearing what all you guys have to say

Hey, Abel, thanks for responding in this station. And I totally agree with you that it's just there's never enough focus on people who are caring to self care, care themselves. It has to be a cycle. The book you mentioned, mentioned creating Beauty. I was wondering if I think it's called, that you would do a Swell and sort of review it for us, kind of maybe reply to yourself and do a couple of chapters and drop us in there a little bit

Hello. This is my first swell post, so I'm excited to be here, um, and kind of reflecting on some selfcare practices that are helping me right now. I'm a mom of two little boys, and we are in a period of a lot of transition in our family, and that's been really hard on all of us in different ways, I think

Hey, Megan. Wow. Curiosity and excitement as a parallel or as a contrast to fear and anxiety. Holding up a big sigh and saying, yay. There are a lot of parents on Swell, and I'm thinking that they all would resonate with your perspective and what you're juggling right now. They always say the people that are caring of themselves are better caretakers, and caretakers need to be cared for. Whatever phrase resonates

Hi. Good morning from Canada. My name is Ali and I just wanted to say thank you to the person that did create this channel here. I think it is really beneficial to everyone. A lot of people sometimes forget the little things that do help make the day go a little bit better, such as self care. There are a lot of different things that you can do to be able to enhance your self care routine

So obviously, taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually is a lot important right now for us to perform better in our careers and our life. So, yeah, what I've been doing lately is also journaling for me to sit down and put my thoughts in the paper. I feel like that's helped me. I'll take care of myself mentally and emotionally. Thank you. Bye

I tell myself, I have done so much, I have reached so far, and I give myself really good motivational talk, even though I'm feeling really low at certain points. And then sometimes even that doesn't work. And I know. And that's when I know to take help. That's when I know I need help. And I talked to a psychiatrist or psychologist, and I want this out. I want this out there for people to know. Like, it's okay

Hey, Kanchana, thank you for your addition to this very powerful thread that's been going on for a while now. And it's just so rare for us to hear from a doctor about self care. So I appreciate you taking the time to remind us that we can't care for others until we care for ourselves. And it's so important to get support for your resolution that you're going to care for yourself. Because we need cheerleaders, we need coaches, we need people on our side

Self honesty uncovers what self-care will look like for you in each stage of your life.

Sure. That is not refilling my cup. Now what's? Refilling my cup is creating healthy boundaries, getting therapy, saying no more often empowering people who rely on me to use their own resources, which is huge. And as a senior leader in corporate America, you would think, oh, that's what I do. Sometimes we typically do something different at work than we do at home
