The Emotial Nap | The Physical Nap

article image placeholderReady. Set. Nap.
I've been thinking a lot about the difference between the emotional nap and the physical nap. And I guess the big difference, the physical nap literally requires that you lay down on a bed and you sleep. The emotional nap might not require sleeping. It might require a complete pause because you're finding that your emotions are completely spun into a place that you're an overwhelm and whatever you're doing in reaction to those emotions is probably not responsible

One? Both? Either? 😴

Pulling back to go forward

But when you're feeling overwhelmed, calling it an emotional nap is so gentle and it's a great way to frame it. And yesterday I had such a nice break from stuff I was dealing with, and I didn't fall asleep, by the way, but I did have an emotional nap. I pulled away and I reframed and I came back and I felt fresher. Yeah. So that's what I wanted to report. I guess I took an emotional nap

And for some reason, I just have the best sleep of my life, obviously repeated a few times. And compared to emotional napping, I think before because of my depression, I would want to take a break, a mental break from what was happening. And I will lie down. And sometimes I would fall asleep. And then after I wake up, I feel like that has passed. And it was kind of like a reset for me
