#TellYourStory | Coming to America | New Life With Lady Liberty

article image placeholderUploaded by @DBPardes
I have friends from Europe, from South Africa, from Israel, from Canada, from South America. These are friends I've met throughout my life here while living in the United States, because I've lived in major cities that are usually melting pots new York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles. And I always love speaking with my friends who moved from other places to America because they always have really interesting stories about their childhood, about the move itself, whether they moved alone or with their families

Some of us are from there and came here… #AskSwell

I also realize that some of you might not have the experience of moving to this country, but you might know somebody who has. Maybe a relative or a friend. Please feel free to share this swell with the Share button on top and share it out in a text or an email or a post. It'd be great to get some more voices from people that you know. Thanks so much for doing that

#everyone

But it didn't turn out like that because of family member and people that you call family thinking know they will be able to see you through the process until you get on your feet and help guide you through because you are new coming to America

Wow. Simonette, thank you for sharing that. And there's so much resilience that's connected to this, right? I mean, there you were, trying to navigate your own story and being surrounded by so much resistance and challenges, and here you are finding the strength to speak about it and create your own podcast here and be your own voice

I grew up seeing my parents’ #chinese restaurant vandalize and graffitied with racist slurs. I forgive those people but it doesnt erase memories.

And I'm sure this goes for other races as well for anyone who immigrated from a different country, whether it is a predominantly Caucasian country, if it's an Asian country, if it's Africa, Australia, Antarctica, I don't think there's many people who probably immigrate from there. If anyone but you get what I'm saying

There's this layer that I sense that no matter where you are, you have to kind of come across sort of this hoop of fire, if you will, where people are sort of not welcoming you in the way that they should be. And it seems to me that when I hear your story, all I have is respect and awe and also a deep sense of curiosity about what comes from you now. Who you are as a person, as a leader, as a writer, as a speaker

@DBPardes I appreciate you and your yearning to learn and understand more through your ears and eyes. The world needs #compassion like yours. 🫶🏽✨

So that when I share, when I give pieces of information, that it's truly kind of custom tailored to answering and resolving some bits of fear or miscommunication or misunderstanding that the other person is vocalizing. And I think that's what has really helped. And I'm so excited to continue sharing more as well. I'll probably do so more in some of my swells that I ultimately end up creating. I created one for Generational Trauma because there's a lot that's kind of enveloped within it
