Sleep

article image placeholderUploaded by @damonnomad
Sleep foundation for Health. I came across an article this morning about sleep on CNN. I won't opine too much about it, but I think I took away something that the writers the article did not intend for me to take away. And it is that I've been wondering why we seem to have a penchant for biohacking rather than reconstructing the systems in which we have decide to develop society so that we have better health. What are your ideas about sleep? Do we get enough?

@damonnomad interesting question 🙏🏾

So for me, it's really important that I try to go to sleep at midnight or a little bit before midnight or I won't sleep through the night and I wake up generally six the first time, and then I might actually get up and do whatever I need to do by seven. So sleep for me is a very complicated endeavor, and I don't like sleeping in the daytime. I don't like naps. Per say, yesterday I fell asleep a little tired

Hey, Charlie, what a great topic. I think I could say that I need more of this in my life. I've noticed that the older I get like some others here, the less either sleep I need or the less sleep I can get. I think it tends to be a little bit with regards to our ability to sleep. What's on our minds, how comfortable we are, our physical fitness level, our exhaustion from the day

So we have to look at the individual cultures that each of us come from and live into. And I love the idea of the biphasic sleep pattern where you have a couple of different shifts in the night that are natural to your body. I think the concept of insomnia and I deal with that a lot is it seems like the arch enemy with the capital. I

I don't think we ever get enough sleep in American society. We just keep on going on, grounding it with the coffee and not even giving our children enough sleep to have their brains develop properly as teenagers. I am a sleep advocate. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy. It's very misunderstood sleeping disorder. And I'm always hungry for sleep. But I'm tortured every time I close my eyes because the nightmares are so real
