#AskSwell Chaos Catylzed by YouTube Creator: Thousands in Takeover the Streets What do we do with the youth?

article image placeholderUploaded by @ReBLACKa
Okay, so Terry Dave brought up a really good point, too. Earlier they were fighting, the young men talking to check you back because they thought they were going to get a PlayStation. Yeah. Famous Kaisert. You don't really realize when you do an event influencers, he's a twitch streamer and a YouTube massive creator. You say the NYPD has to be at the ready, but are you seeing a rise in this type?

I haven't read his whole piece on it yet, but I just thought I would post that here and share that, because I thought that was something interesting that I want to look or hear his take on it. But yeah, I'd love to hear others thoughts on this as well. But thank you for sharing
article image placeholderBad Guru on Instagram: "Let’s examine the “riot” in NYC yesterday from the view of cultural anthropology. In the absence of death initiations or rites of passage, teenagers will take it upon themselves to create their own rites of passage unconsciously. From drug use to becoming a frothing Swifty, in the absence of culturally intentional ritual, spontaneous ritual will automatically arise. The reason for this automatic ritual mechanism – the reason it is indispensable and occurs whether ordained or not - has to do with our fundamental need to confront death, whether consciously or unconsciously. Of course, humans used to deal with death and initiation via rites of passage much more consciously and explicitly. Walkabout, vision quest, eleusinian mysteries, etc.. But today, being a society disconnected from and afraid of death, those sorts of rights of passage have disappeared, leaving kids stranded in their relationship to death. This avoidance tends to manifest in one of two ways - neurotic repression of death or psychotic embrace of death, both of which lead to unconscious attempts to reconcile with death. I sometimes get flack for not posting enough “solutions”. But actually, my primary notion for cultural solution is the return of death initiation – intentional and culturally facilitated rites of passage.
