thoughts on bars/restaurants and 21+ requirement

article image placeholderUploaded by @cjsthoughts111
And I was just wondering what you guys think about that in terms of restaurants, bars not seating those who aren't 21 and up to eat in their kitchen, not even to sit at their bar, but just to eat at the restaurant because there was another party of girls that came in with us and they also happen to not be 21 and they're talking about ways in which the restaurant could fix that and allow those who aren't 21 to be seated and that they have a separate section of the restaurant where those who aren't 21 could sit

And I don't mean this rude or disrespectful going to do at a restaurant that really is focused on alcohol. Sure, the food might be food, but then their tab might only be 30, 40, $50 as opposed to $150. I think in this day and age, you got to kind of pick your market. And if that's the market they're going after, I can't really fault them for that. It could be frustrating at times

It's a very small, dimly lit room. It only seats about 20 people. There's one bartender that works there. That's it. He makes all of the drinks by hand, and there's a jukebox playing. It's meant to take you back 100 years. They don't let you use your cell phone. They don't want any sorts of outside distractions. And the way that they feel like they can go about implementing that is by making it an exclusively 21 and over experience

@Taylor

After listening to the Average Joe and your perspective on it, I definitely do understand now why they would have a 21 plus requirement to profit more off of the alcohol all. And I can see the point about how those who are under 20, they may not have as much to spend as 21 year olds or those who are older than 21. And so they'll try to split certain meals to cut the cost and that could hurt the business. And as a College student I have seen it

Meaning Besides the obvious. So they look for things, and that's typically what gets them in trouble, right. We were all teenagers, so we get in trouble, we start doing things we shouldn't be doing. So it's like, why can't we create something very similar to that to what you're looking for when you're 21 for underage? And I know they're out there, but unfortunately, it's like liquor sales

I agree that there should be places where those who aren't 21 can have similar experiences as those who are 21 and over. And what you said about there being fewer limited places like that, I definitely I feel like that rings true up here. And by up here, I mean upstate New York, more specifically opening, since that's where I go to school and just think about it. It just upsets me because it's like there's not much of a nightlife up here

Okay. This is really interesting because it's honestly so sad when you're not 21 and then you can't eat at a certain restaurant even when the menu is looking so good. So a couple things. I mean, I feel like restaurants should always have a section for the people that are under 21, unless it's like a full on bar. Like it's more of a bar than a restaurant that just happens to have food

But if a restaurant is concerned about underage drinking possible, somebody over in the bar getting a drink, giving it to somebody who's younger, they're just trying to eliminate the possibility. It's not to say that they can get rid of that possibility or they can get rid of that 100% because you can't. It's always going to be a potential for fake IDs and contributing to minors and all that
