What does an EMT do?
You. Hey, city tech medic here. Today is pretty simple. Just a quick question. What does an EMT do? I am just curious. If you are not an EMS, if you're not in public safety, what do you think an EMT does? What do you think the responsibility s are? Don't be shy. Don't worry about being offensive. I just want to hear what the common perception of what an EMT does

On the other hand, I think sometimes you guys are probably called for things that aren't appropriate. So I think an EMT is somebody who is at the ready to respond to people's sort of traumas. And when you get there, you are mostly navigating the physical body to make sure someone is okay physically, and you're also monitoring what their environment is, who's around them and determining whether they go to the hospital or not

You, hey, I'm about to go work out, but I had to stop because you said some pretty impressive things that you don't typically hear. So I was kind of excited about that. You said trauma, physically, mentally, quick assessments, triage number one time, did you say ambulance driver?

That might have sort of been a problem later on for, let's say, the orthopedist who's working on the arm. And I don't know, I'm just wondering what kind of reporting you have to do when you have to get somebody from point A to point B, you got to do stuff

You. Yeah. So we know that pre hospital care is obviously different than any hospital that you're in. Number one, we have a lot less resources. I mean, we have basically everything that we need to stabilize a person, but that's that's it, right? So we have enough to stabilize, and that is the intention is to stabilize a patient and then get a patient to the emergency room. So there's kind of a line between protocol and then what your staining orders are

You're. Hi. So I did not research anything about what an EMT does, and I'm curious to know if I guess I some of the things that I think an EMT does is actually what you guys do. So first and foremost, I don't know what EMT stands for. I guess emergency medical training. That might not be right. I don't know. Like I said, I didn't Google, but I guess you guys are, like, the second on the scene

And a lot of times we do manage those things ourselves because we either don't have a paramedic available, one is not close, or we're just closer to the hospital. Because at the end of the day, definitive care is what a patient needs. It's not really said in the news very well. It's not really said or showed on TV very well. Most people don't know that there's a difference between an EMT and a paramedic or that there's firefighter EMTs
