Fish Poop and Carbon Sequestration?

article image placeholderUploaded by @chlomonsta
For example, our meat consumption is something that definitely needs to be checked, because all the fossil fuels and methane that is contributed to our atmosphere just because of cow parts and stuff. So it's obviously a very multifaceted issue when it comes to climate change and such. But this is just definitely one of the things that I found really interesting because I had never thought that fish group would be a major source of carbon sequestration

It wasn't like a school course, but it was this really low stakes course on the evolution of food systems in the world. And we talked about how diets have changed and what were the costs of that? And then a little later on the ecological impacts. But that kind of stuck with me. And I remember that as I heard your Schwarz, I think definitely the mindset about how we can eat will be really important in the future

And so she was saying she felt like her culture was being kind of shot down, and it was really frustrating for her. So sorry, I'm getting distracted, but I think that there's a fine line between overfishing and doing it because it's trying to feed the masses rather than as part of a community thing where it has been this tradition for years and years and years

Also being partially from Iceland, there are definitely communities out there who simply don't really have a choice when it comes to fishing Iceland, particularly just given its geographical location and its weather and other uncontrollable nature forces. A lot of people, in essence, don't have a choice. But to fish. I know a lot of families there who rely on fishing and the fishing industry to support their families

I think I'm also going to only start eating fish on very special occasions because I want to do as much as I possibly can to help save our planet. And if it means eating sushi less, then I can make that sacrifice. I can get a veggie roll. But yeah, once again, thank you for noting me. And yeah, this has really opened my eyes
