✨DEBUNKING MYTHS ABOUT THERAPY AND COUNSELLING✨

article image placeholderUploaded by @chipotle69
The first myth that people believe in for some reason is that one should seek help from mental health professionals only if they suffer from severe mental illnesses. This is far from the truth because individuals get therapy and counseling for a multitude of reasons. It is not just limited to the achievement of mental disorders or anything like that. It could be a career related issue, a family issue, or even an emotional problem

Disclaimer: these are topics I’ve taken classes on(I’m a psych student)+practical knowledge/experience from internships. 😔✌️ #psychology #sayitonswell

This is really great. Swell. And I would totally agree to you about all the myths that you had mentioned, because basically the society we live in, certainly things that we won't require. We don't require therapist at all, as you said, because obviously they are friends and family. So the first reaction they will always give us is that why don't you talk to us? What is it that we cannot help you with? So obviously, you're totally right

Hey Naina, so your sweat is great. And I have also sometimes heard that therapy is very costly. It's very expensive that everyone is not able to afford. The thing you told about that some doctors are affordable and some are not. That was very good. I thought that everyone was very expensive and everyone may be very costly. So I thought like this because I haven't gone to any doctor yet. So I was thinking it like that. So thank you for posting as well

Hello. I definitely do agree with every single point that you made that was bang on. And I think generation gaps in particular, Play a huge role in the relationship between children and their pets. Errands. And especially in an Indian setting, I think it plays a pretty big role. Right. So, yeah. Thank you so much for applying, and I really liked everything that you spoke about. I. Yeah, bye

We are the ones who have to share our things. And that's when they figure out who we are. And that's why sometimes it could be easier for a person to share those things that they can't share with their friends or family, with a doctor because they just don't know. And psychiatrists are trained to you are a psychology student. So you get what I'm trying to say

Like if they wish to see a counselor, even if they're seeking help, they will not take that step to just call the therapist or call a counselor. Then it will be an admission of a problem. And everyone is so afraid to have a problem, like everyone is wishing to be perfect, which is not possible. And yeah, thank you so much for posting us. Well, about this. It's a topic that needs to be discussed. And yeah, it was an amazing swell

@Tancy_0818 hoi bestieeeee🥰🥰🥰

They can't help you on the same level as a professional who's trained to help you can. And also yeah, I think especially in India, we really do see people kind of putting down other individuals. We're trying to speak up when they are struggling. And they do keep saying that it's like not a big deal. And definitely the smaller problems to create and result in a sort of bigger issue. I definitely do agree with you

@Krishnaroxs 😤😤😤👍

But I guess that's because of how Indian society is and people are very insecure and they don't tend to openly approach people that are close to and let alone actual doctors. So I definitely do get that, which is kind of why I'm creating this series. I'm obviously going to talk more about this and try to make people understand why counseling and therapy is actually safe. And it's not something that they shouldn't be afraid to approach
