A YA reccomandation with a trans protagonist

And the next novel, actually that Quake releasing is called Bitter, which is the mother's name. So it's going to be a kind of attached story, and it's going to be about Bitter when she was younger and Bitter is an artist, and I think it's more about like rebellion. And obviously in this time of revolution, we're going to explore how Lucille came to be monster free in the first place, which I'm really excited to learn about, actually

What did you think of the reveal of Jam being trans?

But this story isn't about the protagonist transition or anything like that, though. Obviously it is a significant component of the character for sure. I loved that. And I want to see more stories like that. And so I'm just curious how you felt about the reveal or the way in which the backstory of Jam being Trans was handled. If that books for you, it's you felt like you wanted the story to be more about that or less or just any thoughts on that

But I think they wanted to just put out this character who was trans, and it was completely accepted by everyone, and they never came up against any adversity because of their transness specifically. And I think that it's just handled beautifully and it's just seamless, and it really doesn't matter. It's not a huge part of our character. It's just something that affects the protagonist past. And I just think that's lovely. It was seen really for me
