Why are we attracted to open up certain apps?

One of the things I constantly love to learn more about is UX Design. I love it because it sits at the intersection of aesthetics and emotion and experience, and also just a straight up usability when it comes to an app or any kind of online platform. So I was reading this article this morning that I had saved that talks about why we are drawn to opening certain apps over others. And I think it's really interesting, a lot of the stuff I already knew

Very well explained by UX enthusiast. But talking about a layman, if I open my phone right now I would be first opening my social media apps. Well obviously apart from work but it's all about the dopamine, right? Yeah

Really interesting to look at my home page on my phone and see that I see Spotify first more than anything else. And then I see swell, which is a little obvious because I used a lot. But I think simplicity is key. I'm going to show you a picture of it so you can see it. And actually, if you look at each of these things, the Google, the Amazon, the WhatsApp they're all really distinguished between each other

Deb, I love that you did a screenshot. And it's so interesting because before I even listen to your message, my eye immediately gravitated towards Spotify and then all the colors of swell. And I think it is is because of that circle shape with Spotify, because I realized for me that my eye on my home screen always gravitates towards the headspace app first. And I think it's the color of the circle on the white backdrop
