The Allure and Pitfalls of Convenience

Purpose isn't all sunshine and rainbows. It has its own set of challenges. We're creatures of habit, and we resist change. When innovation disrupts our convenient lives, we get defensive. But purpose driven companies and individuals are willing to embrace inconvenience for the sake of quality, sustainability and community. It's the intersection of purpose and convenience. Purpose and convenience aren't mutually exclusive. Smart businesses aim to blend the two. And we all know brands that do this well

Convenience is convenient..until its not!

Hey, Bob, I have been meaning to support you as a subscriber. So yes to that. Thank you for the invitation. And I just love the topic you're talking about. I follow you on LinkedIn. I think you had something similar on LinkedIn, and I think your message is powerful. There is such a beautiful balance that you talk about with all birds and with Warby Parker. That really resonates with me

I don't have to make sure that you come out and get your stuff. I don't have to say hello to you or any of those things. And now all of our banking is pretty much done through ATMs or through drive throughs or online. So we have lost community for the sake of convenience. We don't build relationships with people anymore because we don't have to. Everything is automated now, so we don't have to build relationships. So I think this was a very important swell

And essentially my point I made to him, which I'm sharing on this, is once we had a chance to connect later that afternoon and he seemed taken aback that I was not immediately available and on the dating app that I was not immediately responded back. And I said, hey, listen. I said, I believe my time is valuable, it's priceless, okay? And people have to earn access to me
