She dressed her so pretty. Mama made certain her daughter's education included piano lessons. By the time I was born, as mama's first grandchild, I basked in the royal magic dust of love sprinkling down upon me, saying my morning goodbyes to my grandmother with expectation for her to return at the days end

And I was like, oh, could you buy me the XYZ Barbie? And he would say, what I mean is I'm the richest man in the world because of the love of family that I have. Look at all of us around and he would turn me around on his laps. I could see all of the family gathered around and laughing and sharing stories and history and loving on one another

There's a poem she has called Nikki Rosa and she describes our culture. That is the wealth of our culture, the love, the wealth of our loving one another. My grandmother would have been 112 years ago now. She passed away July 18, 2019, in hearing she was 98 and approaching her 99th birthday. So I just wanted to make sure to clarify. She was born 112 years ago yesterday, but she passed away 2009, just as she approached her 99th birthday
