The Americans and the British and the French that have bases in Japan would send their soldiers to fight against. So it becomes a thing, the way it is done, the way they invade, so to speak, and the way the plot progresses and the way the rebellion happens, the individuals who end up rebelling. It's such wonderfully written prose, in my opinion. Yes, it's a little detailed and watching the size of the book probably might be intimidating for a few people
