What are your thoughts on homelessness?

article image placeholderThis is Maurice. He is a homeless man in Boston.
What's going on? Boston from the inside. Jody Mayo here. I'm actually at the dealership having my car, looked at having problems accelerating, and I figured I would reach out to you. I've been doing a lot of thinking these last few days about homelessness in Boston, Austin, and I know that homelessness is not something that just impacts my city, but it's a worldwide issue, and I was curious to know how you feel about it

Homeless, homelessness, Boston, Massachusetts, Homeless People, Homeless Women, Homeless Men, Human Condition

And I don't engage that kind of thing because I don't know how that's going to go. But there's been plenty of over the years people say, hey, man, I'm hungry if I'm walking into a convenience store because to me, that's legit, you are saying, like, look, if you're going in there, can you get me anything and they'll say anything? Dude, I don't care. I'm just starving

Thanks for taking the time to reply, @AverageJoe!

He was a guy that admitted to his addictions. He talked about some of the problems he was having. But somehow the street became his solution. And to try to understand that is mind boggling to understand how a person can get to that point. To say, I want to live on the streets. Yes. Even he said that a lot of people who surround me are people that have mental issues. He was incredibly articulate. He was not a stupid guy

Slight ramble on my end but this is such an important issue.

So I just packed up a ton of old clothing, and I know a particular area where there's a lot of homeless people living. I will go drop it off there, but I'm not going to communicate with anybody. They'll be able to find it on their own, and that's fine

And like I said, bottle of whiskey. If it's cold, who don't love and I don't buy them the cheap stuff either. Just because I know what you're probably thinking, you go like some kind of ripple or some s***. I don't do that. How dare you accuse me

@AverageJoe

Have we been trying as hard as we could? H***, no. That's my biggest problem here, right? Prison and homelessness. It's a fast track to being completely forgotten. And, yes, programs do exist to help individuals elevate themselves or get the help that they need. There have been a number of prison programs that have helped people get College education, right? It's not enough. We're really not doing enough

@Taylor @AverageJoe Great commentary!!!

So even though other might have been aspiring to become someone, they just didn't have the opportunity. I'm a big believer that for those of us who have had great parents, it's still easy for us to stray, even when you have the right guidance in life. I tell my mum all the time my dad isn't around anymore, but I tell my mom all the life I see these people don't have
