Greek Myth Retellings

article image placeholderUploaded by @ayishah.hasni
And we got to study a bunch of myths and just write about them. And it was really interesting. But the first book is called The Voyages of Odysseus. So it's the story of the Odyssey. I'm not sure how they condensed the entire Odyssey in this tiny, thin book form, but who knows? I haven't read it yet. So we'll see. And the second one is Cecius and the Minotaur, which is the myth that has the labyrinth in it

I got these two retellings of Greek myths in graphic novel form from Dollarama yesterday. Are you into Greek mythology? What's your favourite myth?

I just feel like that condenses everything there is to feel about Greek mythology into one story, just the ridiculousness and the incredible stretches, like through time and space and physical realm of possibility. And she has a child with a beast, and then she has a string in the labyrinth, combines the magic into, like, sort of awful beastly nature of the myth. I don't know. I feel like it's just a perfect mess, but yeah, thanks for sharing

Orpheus and Eurydice

Well, I'll share with you what my favorite myth is now. And of course, the great thing about mythology is that you pick up different meanings from it depending on where you are in your own life journey. I think these stories speak to us at different stages in our lives and resonate with us differently. So the one that I really appreciate now is Orpheus and Eurydice, where Orpheus goes down to the underworld to plead for the life of his bride, and he succeeds, and then he fails
