How’s Your Rehash, Bro?

article image placeholderLameness
For the reference, there was a short lived sitcom on ABC in the 80s called Mr. Belvedere, where a British nanny type came to live with Bob Euchar's family even know who Bob? You see what I mean? You see what I'm talking about? The whole g****** Ready Player Two two is nothing but this. Yeah, I love to. Member to membering was cool in the first one

Maybe, I guess maybe that's part of the fun, but I think it can also, it seems like it's distracting for you right now, which I have experienced that in books before, too. And it's not fun. So looking forward to hearing more from you about it

Hey, I just want to say how cool your graphic is. Ready Player boo. That's funny. You're funny. And you're very talented as a graphic person, by the way, an audio person. But in terms of what you're saying, I just love Ready Player Two so much that I love the world. I love the world. That was how it created and how immersive and weird and tweak. I just loved it. I. I don't know

Right now, if we're actually time traveling ourselves, Wade hasn't been born yet. There's another part where he's detailing the cars that he owns. He says he has four screen accurate cars. One the Back to the Future DeLorean, of course. Two Ecto one from Ghostbusters, the ambulance, and then the third one

And I'm not pandering the Indians. Again, I'm just saying this guy is my guru. He's like the Indian Bob Ross of Photoshop. He's soothing to watch, and he's brilliant at what he does. Although Bob Ross was actually a hack, but that's a whole nother conversation. The other thing, the movie. I don't know. I do believe I saw something about it already had been greenlit, but don't quote me on that

did you read Armada?

So when I read Armando, I thought, all right, Klein might be a one trick pony. And he went from my mustard list to the you know what? I'm going to have to wait and see what the consensus is before I pick him up again. Bye

Oh, wow. Tim. I didn't even know about Armada because every time I've searched Ernest Klein, it's like just ready player one and ready player Two pop up. So I had to search Armada. So is it fair to say that Armada is pretty much just ready player One. But with aliens

@AverageJoe ☺️

Joe, I just want to say that I am super appreciative about how passionate you are about your graphics and also how much you are hating this book. It made me laugh really hard. Imagine you driving around in your car with your cup of Duncan, listening to the audiobook or something and just yelling into the void about how much you hate. So just want to let you know that your hate brought some joy to my day. Today

Hey, Bowie, our motto would have been better if it was Ready Player Ones. But with aliens in Ready Player One, all the culture was built in the plot, right? In the quest you had to uncover using 80s pop culture references because of the Oasis that totally made sense in Armada. It was just that the main character was obsessed with video games and certain bands and certain posters and certain albums

All right. I'm here to drop an update because I think it's only fair the story has picked up. The story has improved. It's not great, but it's a decent. I'm still having issues with the constant 80s references that instinctually pop in the heads of people that they would not instinctually pop in the heads of. And there's younger, newer characters. Now that still do the same thing. I'm going to give you an example

@AverageJoe References important to characters

But it seems like with this book and from my experience of reading Ready Player won that the references are so integral to these characters and how they see themselves that I can imagine it would be really difficult to just breeze past a lot of the references and still care about the characters. But maybe not. I'm looking forward to hearing your perspective on that and also where you land when you finish the book

All right. I just want to say I still think this book is a piece of trash, right? But and I don't have my Roadcaster pro in front of me so I can't push my buttons that say, spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. But think, pretend you just just heard it in your head. You just heard the alarm go off, and you were warned that I'm going to say something, I guess is a spoiler. Well, not really

@AverageJoe Missed the notification on this post 😩

And now the question is, do I enjoy something where I do not get the reference? Maybe if I had seen certain movies or been through things, I might have enjoyed the reference more, but it doesn't matter. I'm just like, oh, it's an inside joke. It's a reference I don't get. But I am more about character. Character motivations. Storyline Where is that whole plot going? So that's kind of where how I look at it

But then once the first piece is revealed, all of the rest of them just seem to open up with great ease. And why do they open up with such great ease? Because, as I've already stated in this, well, the participants in the quest who are in their early twentys and late teens, have an absolutely demonic knowledge of the 1980s. For instance, at one point, they go to a children's television planet where they board the Great Space Coaster
