Are you a Helicopter Parent?

article image placeholderUploaded by @ashmi
And the simple ways to overcome this kind of a parenting style is firstly to acknowledge that whether or not I am a helicopter parent and releasing and letting go of things, managing your own anxiety in some cases the parent might need therapy. Encouraging autonomy and freedom in children, encouraging open communication and asking what the child wants. Also, giving them simple chores like folding their own clothes or arranging their cupboards, et cetera, can be helpful. Most importantly, remember sometimes let your child fail

You? Yes, this is very true. I think as parents we have sort of become quite, I think, obsessed over certain aspects, but also I like to look at it as an encouraging development. You know, when parents are very closely involved in their child's development

Specifically how to be a perfect mom because you don't give right to tie your lace for someone who has never been in your shoe. Currently, you know well your situation, your finances, how we are managing things and how things are turning around. And you know what's best for your child more than anyone. So whatever you're doing, it may look weird for some, but it's okay. They have a different life. You have a different life altogether

You. Hi, Ashmi. Thank you for bringing this up. I am not a helicopter parent, but I am a professor at a university. And if I survey one of my classes, at least nine out of ten of my students will say that they had helicopter parents. And by the time they're at the university, this is really a big problem because they do not know how to do things for themselves. They cannot keep track of the syllabus or their own schedules
