Artist of the Week: Kerby Jean-Raymond

He used it in a shirt and a skirt and a jacket, and I think it looks really great. I'm seeing on his website that pyramid. His brand is described as a men's and women's wear fashion label concerned with building a narrative that speaks about heritage and activism. I really love that because I don't think in the past anyway, most fashion designers have created their brand with these ideas in mind, and I really love seeing that

I don't like how there are so many boundaries presented when talking about fashion. There are so many perceptions put upon people in terms of fashion. And I love fashion as an arts form for the very fact that it bursts open those boundaries and those frames that we put around fashion and those expectations. So I'm really excited to check out this artist and thank you so much for this artist of the week here

And I think there's a lot of power and potential to not only standing up for yourself, but expressing your values and your truths through the clothes that you're wearing. It's sort of like a badge of honor, an announcement to anyone who sees you that whatever you are standing for, you are standing for that, and it's right on your body. It's on your shirt or your your pants, and no one can look away. I just think that's super cool
