Is stupidity a crime?

article image placeholderParents of accused Michigan shooter charged in 'unusual' move by prosecutor
Really? Can you be held accountable for not being smart enough to understand the consequences of your inaction? So let's take a train that is rushing down the tracks and there is a huge Boulder in the tracks or a vehicle with people in it, there will be an accident. It's inevitable the train was hit, that obstacle and people in the train will die get hurt. Or if it's a car, people in the car will die get hurt

@arish my late reply after review

Professor, 42. I wanted to wait a little bit to get more details on this case, and I really wanted to think about your question. Now, I know that you said you wanted to get away from the the emotional aspect of this case, but I wanted to present some of my findings for one, I'm not sure if you are aware of these details, but the gun that was used in this shooting was purchased by the father just four days prior

This is a really interesting question. And like professor 42, I wanted to think about it a bit more and try and I guess contextualize it a bit more. And I came across an article that was actually written by a person from from, I believe, the same county as where this took place. An analyst and he was describing the incident and how charging the parents for manslaughter in this case is not necessarily unprecedented

And the only reason they did not, I think, is their stupidity. It's not their willful desire to make something bad happen. And if that is the case, then really, it becomes if they're not smart enough to kind of come to the right conclusion about what might happen and holding them legally responsible for that. That is what I mean by that is that is is is is stupidity a crime strongly feel that they are morally responsible for what has happened
