Why I am glad I did not take my Tesla to Tahoe

article image placeholderUploaded by @arish
I had to gas up twice. It just took five minutes in the gas station and I never was taught worried that my car might not start or it might get out of battery during this while all this is going on. And I think that made a huge difference. I think at that stress level, adding one more I would call again, it's not range anxiety. It's more EV anxiety

Depends

I don't think we still would be still there. We'd still be trying to solve autonomy. My belief is that by 2025, Tesla might have self driving. And this is again, I'm projecting of, like just seeing the progress. I have no intimate knowledge over here

Correction.. 6 miles in 6 mins

I just heard what I said and I think I misspoke I said 6 miles and 6 hours. That should have been 6 miles in six minutes

@shammi

Hey, Shammi, thanks for your response. Yes, you are right. If we get to that five to ten minutes, 80% charge. And these stations are available everywhere. That will take a huge load off of my mind, every driver's mind. I think that's kind of the tipping point. And I think we get there fairly soon. As you said, a lot of initiatives underway. But there's still something about just the liability. And the stress factor is you're right

@shammi It was 6 miles in 6 hours :) And two more data points for you…

Hey, Shammi, it was actually 6 miles and 6 hours. So you were not wrong in your original post. Yeah, it was that painful what you went through. But anyways, two more data points for you again. You said about charging wherever you're staying, using a regular kind of electrical outlet and letting it charge for a duration of time. That's a fair point

Clarification in range anxiety

Hey, thanks for your response, Irish. Just quick clarification on your range anxiety bit. You said even in sunny weather, when you're in Santa Barbara, when you're driving back, you usually have range anxiety because you're always worried about or when to charge. Where to charge?

@shammi

I am using Tesla's navigation, and it does a really good job of kind of routing and optimizing way to recharge. I actually end up recharging in places I prefer to each other than what it recommends because there may be better places to eat there or things like that, because I have to kind of make the most of that break, especially when you're traveling with family and kids and everybody. That was the point there that the only thing I think Tesla can do is one have these supercharges everywhere

@shammi WaPo article - https://s.swell.life/SSte2S5Z1X5Fjap

Isham here's a link to an interesting Washington Post piece which kind of makes the similar points that I was making in my spell here about how in an icy, snowy kind of conditions up, if it is all EV vehicles, things would be a lot worse. This is in the context of the recent pile up in Virginia due to the snow storm over there
