Least boring Best Picture winner? #OscarsWeek

article image placeholderThe Silence of the Lambs (1991) - IMDb
And many of those movies don't quite pass muster on that one metric, or they don't rank that highly. Right. And again, obviously it depends on taste, it depends on what kind of movies you like. But for this question, all I'm asking you is which is the most entertaining? Least boring best picture winner for me by far is Silence of the Lambs

So this is like a fictionalized narrative of the storytelling process, of how they exposed the Catholic Church and their pedophile thingy. Absolute brilliance, this movie. And, of course, lot of the Rings. Of course. Lot of the rings. Like, I don't even have words. Then there's Titanic. Then there's the godfather's. Silence of the Lamb. Of course, I didn't really like Forest Gump as an Oscar winner, but I liked Forest Gump as a movie

Arishwell, I'll agree with you on Silence of the Lambs. This is a very difficult exercise, but I have narrowed it down to my top and I have to explain my thought process. So I started looking and then I narrowed it down to five initially. Godfather the Godfather part Two the Sting argo and no country for old men. And I think of these movies as just movies that I could watch time and time again and I think they're intense from beginning to end

If the best picture award every year went to the most entertaining film, I think that Tom Cruise would be giving people a run for their money. I mean, with the latest few Mission impossible films that have been just like over the top, high octane thrills from the moment you set foot in the theater to the moment you leave, but that's not necessarily what a best picture is

Phil, it looks like I recorded my response and uploaded it just a moment after you recorded yours and uploaded it. And I just wanted to in my response, I mentioned no country for Old Men as well. And you do. I can't say enough how much I love that movie. And people that are listening to this, this is a film that may have potentially flown under the radar for you

@arish : why no Shawshank ?

Kevin Spacey, I know, probably not in the best vocabularies at this point in time, but from an acting chop standpoint, from Annette Benning's performance to Thorough Birch and the rest of the cast, they just what an amazing, hard hitting story. And in fact, right from Get Go, if you remember the first scene with that plastic bag drifting aimlessly in the air. And in the end, it was one of the most engaging movies at the time
