In conversation with political consultant Anurag Singh

But out of all of these elections, the most high stakes, perhaps was the one in the state of West Bengal, where a regional party called the Cinema Congress defeated Narendra Modi's BJP after an eight phase election and omits a lot of controversy to get a better understanding of the significance of this election, I'm joined by Anurag Singh, who is US politics consultant currently in the state of Bihar

I have been a part of the campaign, although the campaign went for about two years. I was part of the campaign for about a year in a few months, so definitely a great day for me. Happy. I'm proud to be about the campaign, but more importantly, electorally, it's quite significant elections. If you look at TMC's, it's the third time the incoming chief Minister would be retaining the power. And two times she has contested elections as the incumbent chief Minister

Hey, thank you for that. Anurag and I'm looking forward to all the forecasts that are going to come in. But, you know, in terms of the campaign that month, Tab Energy ran, you know, one would think that after the 2019 looks at the election where the BJP did make a lot of inroads in to Bengal, Mamla Banana was playing on the back foot

So yes, the voters in Bengal kind of chose to have Mr. Modi as the representative when it comes to the general election as the Prime Minister and in 2021 elections now. So it was about Modi as Prime Minister and month of energy as a chief Minister. So having said that a lot of grounds that was gained by BJP in 2019 general election came at the expense of the left and slightly also Congress in some manner

Yeah. So in Nutshell, I think the welfare schemes have been there for a long time in this state, just that a lot of focus was was put on in order to make sure that these the delivery became even better after of 2019 elections because there was a growing perception that although despite of their being the presence of a lot of schemes, the perception that was going out was that TMC is more of a cut off party and they do not care for the citizen

But at least we still need to see that what Ramification do these elections will have at a national level, but it's still early days, but a lot of talks about a month of energy being as one of the faces in the upcoming general elections, and even the way the Congratulations have been pouring in for month of energy shows that she is definitely one of the she is by far the biggest opposition leader that leaders that we have in the country right now and how it would translate to a national level or to the general elections in the 2024 is yet to be seen

Hey, thanks for sharing light on those two schemes. Anurag I hadn't heard of either of them. And that's also because when you read mainstream media reports, they don't really communicate what's actually happening on the ground. And it's nice to know that she prioritized based accessibility and making sure that there's, like a grievance mechanism where people can give a real time feedback. And that's something that I think can be replicated in other States as well

One of the things that we have seen at least in the last couple of years, that there's always a drop of, say roughly around 5% from the general elections to the state elections in the vote that are pulled in favor of BJP. And that's something that happened even during these elections and all the results are still coming in and final results are still coming in. But one can expect that the BJP will sort of secure somewhere around 40% of the total votes. Now they did get

You know, an Aragon. Another interesting aspect of the selection is the total decimation of the Left and Congress. And I heard Kelash Virgin Argya, who is the BJP general Secretary in charge of West Bengal, say that there was some sort of a hidden investment agreement between a month of Energies Party and the Congress and the Left. Do you think there's any truth to this? And what explains the total dismantling of the Left in West Bengal

And the 34 year of the rule, which was dismantled by month of energy and month of energy DMC. And it has been on a constant decline and for a decade and a half now. So this is not something and in some manner that the left party in the state has been losing its relevance. So it's just about the culmination of that factor that has been taking for some time now

Another point of dispute an Anurag is the question of EVMs, right? And now with Matthew Bananaji's own election result in Nandi Graham where she seems that she hasn't won her seat at the end of the day after leading the whole day. And she's I think, going to fight this at the high court and question the result. What is the issue with EVM's?

And even if you see the blatant use of religion, the blatant use of religious slogans in the elections is something that I grew was raised on that. So these things are there, which begs one to raise concerns regarding the conduct of EC

Hey, Anurag, thanks for sharing light on the EVMs and how those fears are misplaced or exaggerated. I remember watching a video a couple of years back. I think it was in the Delhi Assembly where an arm Hamadi party, Emily, came up and gave the assembly a step by step breakdown of how the EVMs can be rigged. And I think that really created a lot of paranoia in the minds of a lot of people. But subsequently, the Hamadmi Party won the election using the same Evans

So Karan, even though I am a political consultant, but I do have some differing views when it in in in in in in conversation with political consultant Anurag the country because and spend actually when the consultancies or the group of consultants are only used to win elections because at the end of the day and they're still a developing nation, we have limited resources
