Baby mama vs Mother of the child. Is there a difference?

article image placeholderUploaded by @AndreaSpeaks
I said, and you're not like my other two. You're different. And so we have to treat each other differently. And so the whole baby mama baby daddy thing, I know why people say it, and I know, like, my pastor's wife, my first lady, she will jokingly say, I'm sending my kids to my baby daddy. Well, they're still married, so they live in the same house. So she's not really you know what I'm saying?

Baby mama and you already know this, I know had the connotation of being black only it was a youthful thing. To me, it was always considered youthful ignorance where the baby mama was just the child's mom. And in many ways it comes off as derogatory especially when it's hijacked by other groups who like to highlight our shortcomings as a community of parenting. Baby mama screams ignorance in parents in my opinion. And unfortunately it is cultural. It's a black cultural statement

So they look at baby mamas as the ones who are not able to really take care of their children, don't have a relationship with their children's fathers or they have multiple children's fathers, or their children have different last names. So there seems to be this hierarchical thinking when it comes to single mothers in the black community. So it's like, I'm a single mother, but I'm not that kind of single mother. My kids all by the same man

I mean, that's the same thing, right? You're using the child as a pawn to get what you want. It's the same thing when two people go to when they're getting ready to get a divorce and they try to use the children as pawns, right? Well, I want the child to live with me so I can keep the house, or I want the child to live with me so I can get money from the other one. More money. Right

I don't know if you're familiar with love languages or not, but acts of service, people I care about, I want to do things for, and people I care about, I don't call them those sorts of names or at least this particular person. I've only have one person I've had a kid with. I've only have one child. So, yes, she will always be my kid's mother

My ex husband, his son still calls me mom, and me and him have been divorced for six years, but his son still calls me mom because I loved on him and, like, he was mine. And after we divorced, he asked me if he could stay in touch with me, and I was like, yeah, of course. Just because me and your dad aren't together anymore, that doesn't mean that you have to cut me out your life too

And I was joking with him, like, you owe. Not for real, you owe. And so we were laughing and joking, and his other daughters were there. So they came and gave me a hug, and they were telling me that they love me. And so, yeah, it's a really good dynamic. He and I, we co parented very well. My father even talked to me about that. He was like, you and him, you all got it figured out

It sounds as though this person is worthy. Someone with class, that's mother of my child or mother of my children or son or daughter. Those terms versus the other terms. So I'll look at these two comparisons and I see that both respective terminologies have different meanings that are somewhat antithetical to one another based on the feelings, ideas and respect that we place on them. On the flip side, I'm going to say that they're technically the same. Why?
