The Fear Of Missing Out

article image placeholderUploaded by @alihobson
And I've just never really experienced a super outrageously fun spring break in my College years. I've never gone to Cabo for spring break or, you know, any tropical destinations with a large group of friends. And it makes me kind of sad because this is my last year of College, and I just never got to experience that. And just seeing all of my friends from Chico and even just

It does suck to not have, like, a big College spring break experience. But I think, like, the money you save now and, like, the experience that you're gaining throughout life will just better prepare you for, like, other trips in your life and more extravagant trips. I think that's kind of what I'm looking forward to. I never had that Cabo experience. I always wanted to go to Cancun for spring break

But yeah, I think it's just like in the moment, like you see something and you're like, oh, I wish I was there. But yeah, I'm excited to plan future trips with my close friends from home because I think it would be really meaningful to do a trip with the people you're closest with. And yeah, I try not to stress about it too much. It's like in the moment type of feeling, then you get over it

But you are talking about spring break and like, honestly, actually one of the main reasons I initially decided to go on my spring break trip and impulsively buy my ticket and whatnot was because of my crippling FOMO and I just didn't want to miss out if everyone was going to be there and whatnot. But I'm very excited obviously. But honestly, this just happens to be on a week to week basis

Like, I wish I was kind of doing something a little bit more fun, but yeah, I think it's just kind of something that I feel like everyone kind of experiences that of like, oh, I wish I could be somewhere else doing something, but I guess you just kind of have to think of I'm doing what I'm doing for myself, and I don't need to go out to these places, and there's always going to be another opportunity to have fun

Hey, so I completely agree. I think also, like, just spring break in general is such a week of FOMO. I think because, you know, people are going to the beach, people are leaving the country, and it's not possible for everyone to do. And, I mean, I didn't. And so I just think, I don't know, seeing all the beach pictures on your feet and everybody's stories and everyone's having a great time

I did nothing really over the break but it was relaxing!

I definitely understand what you mean by, like, having FOMO, especially during spring break. I didn't really do much over the spring break either. A lot of people that I do know, though, went to Cabo. They went to, like, a lot of different places, San Diego. And honestly, the one thing that really just helped with my FOMO is how tired I was the entire break

And honestly, my only thing for FOMO is that if you're missing out on it, then just do it. There's been so many times in my life where I'd be like, oh, but I don't have anyone to do this with or I don't know, but honestly, start small. If you're not wanting to be alone or if you need to have friends with, you be by yourself. You go to sleep and you wake up with yourself every day

Totally feel this

And so that was kind of my mindset on it. But I definitely always get caught up in getting FOMO as well. And I also find that cutting out social media helps. With that, I decided to kind of eliminate Instagram for a little bit and it's already helping. I realize how naturally drawn I am to click on the app just to see what people have to and I can't right now because I'm logged out. But it's good for me

So hopefully I can do one next year. But at the end of the day, I was glad I saved like the $1,000 that everyone else spent. But it's just like it's real. I never have FOMOS when they go to parties and I don't want to go and I stay in never have FOMO anymore. I did freshman year, but not at all anymore. But something with trips, it just makes me I do have funnel. Like, I will not lie about that one
