Nothing like the bicycles that my friends had, the chrome Molly steel, those are lighter. And those Mongoose BMX bikes. Mine was a BMX bike, but not really. But I loved it just the same. I very quickly found out that knowing how to ride a bike meant freedom. It meant being able to take myself places. I would go to Little League baseball practice on my own, and old ride to my friend's house and things like that

Finally, it was an orange ten speed. And one day I was so excited and wanted to look so cool that I was, like, pulling up my tube socks and I didn't look up. And I landed in the back of a pickup truck. I flipped over into the pickup truck and my bike was mangled. And I had a really bad scar, which I still have on my right knee
