Tribes - Will their culture survive globalisation?

article image placeholderUploaded by @Zakiryoungindia
Hi everyone. This is Zakir. Hope you all are doing good. So the pic that I have posted is a Torah tribal. Hat Tora tribes are endemic to the Nail, Greece, located in Tamil Nadu, India. I had visited a Toda Hamlet here and what I found was people are no more living in such huts. The government has done a meticulous work and people with aid from the government are now living in houses similar to the one we live with. More of a development approach

Hi Zakir, a very interesting swell. And the Todas and the tribes of Nilgiris have really fascinated me since a very long time. So I just wanted to add my thoughts on this. I totally agree with you that the Indigenous tribes of Nilgiri are fast losing their ethnicity and their culture. And you have very rightly pointed out all the reasons for it. But I do understand that this has come at the price of the government projecting UTI as a major tourism hub

Hi Ramya, you have added so many good points to the topic. The change of vegetation and its impact on such tribes that you mentioned is totally correct. And again, as you said, Badagas and Todas are incomparable available for the later are very few in number. Since I did my schooling in OT, I do have a lot of pedigree as friends. I'm always fascinated about their growth, which they have managed without losing their own identity
