Happy Birthday, Virginia Woolf.

article image placeholderHappy Birthday, Virginia Woolf.
I find her writing to be lush with a dreamy sort of quality, with remarkable insights into its characters, and I think it is certainly worth the effort that is needed to sometimes keep my mind from wandering too far off, which generally happens when I read classics. I love how she finds and highlights the enormous in the everyday trivia and manages to make every little human act seem to be so momentous. If you haven't read any of Holmes novels, there's no better time to start

Orlando! Yay!

Happy birthday, Virginia. I was so happy to see this the other day and I'm just getting the chance to respond. And I was so excited to hear that you are reading Orlando. Orlando is actually going to be the swell book of the the month pick for February, and I'm hoping some people from my meetup group will join in on the conversation, and I really hope you join us in discussing Orlando as well. I've never read it, so I'm Super excited to read it

Currently reading Mrs Dalloway

And especially because I read about four or five books at once. So I take a break from it and then I come back to it. But then every time I do come back to it, I'm reminded of how amazing the writing is. So I just wanted to say that and I will add Orlando to my reading list, too

@Violet_writes Excited to hear more!

I'm just starting Orlando, and I'm a little intimidated because as you said, Wolf writing style can be kind of a lot, but I try to give myself permission to let myself kind of flow through it and wash over me as though it's poetry, and I'm to just enjoy it. So we'll see how it goes. But I would love to hear what you think about Mrs. Dalloway. Whenever you're done, please post a review

V Woolf

Yeah. Wolf is definitely unique, and I feel like reading her novels, makes me require a lot of attention, but that attention is always worth it because it's so poetic, so lyrical. And I mean, it's a work of art in itself. So I'm about 30 pages away from finishing. So as soon as I finish, I will update you and let you know what I think
