Atlanta Shooter Blames Sex Addiction. Who's Really to Blame?

article image placeholderSexual Anguish of Atlanta Suspect Is Familiar Thorn for Evangelicals
Hey, everyone, Bowie here. News has just come out that the man accused of killing eight people in Atlanta blames his actions on what he called an addiction to sex. This article goes into just how complicated this is and how deep rooted the relationship between shame around sex and its correlation then with violence simply towards women truly is. I just want to read a quote here for you to give you a small example of what I mean

Is the Evangelical church also complicit in these deaths? https://s.swell.life/SSSEBo7VzeOJVw8

We must ducuss the culturre that shaped the p the Altlanta shooter

I agree that it's important to have conversations about how this man thought and how his thinking was shaped by the world in which he lived. And and I think that is partially to blame for why he targeted these women as opposed to somebody else or did something else with his rage. His rage clearly came from a way that he had been taught to feel and think about women. And I think we do need to look at that

It's certainly not black or white, because, like you said, not every misogynist, not every racist chooses to do this. So how is it that we can stop these mass shootings from continuing to happen? Seeing the news just a couple of hours ago about another shooting that just took place in Colorado. I am horrified that this is becoming status quo. That's not the country I want to live in

#policies and practices

What I am looking for is more equity, more equality in the way that we deal with perpetrators of crime and the way we represent all people in our media spaces
