The baggage of perception: a heavy load that we carry?

article image placeholder10 Clear Reasons Why You Shouldn't Care What Others Think
Good morning. Swell. How are you this morning? What is important to you? What you think about yourself, that is how you perceive yourself as a person. What others think about you. Why this question occurred to me is because I realize that over time I seem to be free the the the baggage of perception a heavy others perceive me, and I find it immensely liberating

It’s a toss up for me.

When you posed this question, I didn't really realize that I actually do consider what others think about me. I do, and I always want to make sure that I'm understood more over than anything else. Do you understand the concept that I am laying out or the idea that I am laying out? If so, fine, let's talk

Wow full 5 min full speed, half devoted to @Dewuan. How you do that?! Lol

I should have wrote down what I first thought, but it's all related because first of all, I was in the middle of a debate online on Facebook before they basically boiled down to what you're talking about, which is people understanding what you're saying. And it was these two people who were having an argument, and it was like they couldn't come to an agreement. I don't know if that's a good story, because I can't illustrate it perfectly

Excited for @wordsmith 🍿🌱

And it doesn't have a contradiction with being caring and living in community and being responsible and accountable. I think people who are truly happy with themselves and aren't enslaved by the perceptions of others can be more fully themselves and then therefore be more wonderful to others. So it's a nice, big circle. And I'm just so happy to hear that you're feeling freed up

Ego, Identity, Reactions,...

Wow. Wordsmith amazing that you've gotten to that place in your life. I feel like I'm on a journey there. I'm lending my way there on this dizzying, disco ride to death, right. I think I am totally aware of how other people react to me. And then I work really hard at not owning that. And I try to be aware of how I react to other people. And again, try not to own that either

@Dewuan

And I guess that's exactly the point where many of us are trying to get to, because once the whole kind of a wall of perception comes in between you and the real you that is, then you sort of try to play to the Gallery, and that's not really of great use either to you or to those who want to engage with you because they really want to. In this context, at least the topic has to be larger than you. Right

@Brooke415

So definitely, self love has played an important role, and especially when you stop seeking validation from others and put yourself first because of a clear understanding of what your internal benchmarks are because they are set with yourself. Right. So that's a huge leap. Definitely

Debra, thank you for your wishes. And I really hope that there will be beautiful discoveries as I move on, especially in this journey of selfdiscovery. Thank you, Deborah

And the ego, because of this process, gains a lot of control over the mind and keeps it on tenter hooks all the time. And that is precisely the cycle that one tries to get out of when one is on a journey inward. So that's where the self analysis comes into play and you stop giving into these kind of notions of identity and perception and so on. This is a very valuable insight. So thank you for sharing this here

@MerelyHuman

Merely human. I agree with what you had to say about conditioning a band about how our society is built around validation, which is exactly what social media thrives on today. Right. And I have had earlier also posted a span about the real you on social media on how we work towards putting up a certain image on each platform to suit our needs or for acceptance. As you mentioned

@wordsmith @MerelyHuman Long reply apologies 😁

So I think there's a balance between being a solo entity and living in a society where we interact with other people and what that benefits us, the affordances and constraints of relationships with other people. And I love what you said about social media wordsmith about this not reacting to the artificial dopamine loop that is set up for us through all of the social media platforms, the likes and the notifications, because ultimately, what social media has done is prey on a survival mechanism
