The real "you" on social media.

article image placeholderMultiple Personalities And Social Media: The Many Faces of Me
It's all right, we tell ourselves we are simply playing to the Gallery. But can we lose a sense of self in the process, or is it too farfetched to think that social media can help us spin distorted versions of ourselves? I'm sharing a related article here and I'm waiting to hear from you on this. Have a great day and

@Dewuan well played my ISTJ (?) friend. You are what they call"sticky" 👍

But then I consider some platforms to be professional, and it's strange that businesses can look into your information. I try to keep all my stuff private, but like on LinkedIn. Obviously, I had to remind myself when I first got on LinkedIn, I was like, this is a business site I can't come on and rent about capitalism. I want to on Twitter, so that's my only distinction is on Twitter

To be honest, there have been times where my professional life has kind of collided with my social media activity, but there was only a couple of separate incidents that were handled on its own, and I've since changed the way in which how I use social media at the job, whereas before I was trying to integrate both but confidentiality and things of that nature, I wasn't able to do that as much

I haven't thought about the way in which maybe that trend causes us to feel pressure to develop certain personas for each platform, depending on what our goals are for each one. So I don't know if that's something that I've necessarily done personally, but it's given me a lot to think about as far as, oh, what is the kind of content I post on each of these?

@Brooke415

Hi, Brooke. You got my name. Absolutely right. Thank you. I also wanted to thank you for adding on the bit about solitude and loneliness. Loneliness is the poverty of self. And solitude is the richness of self. Yes, yes. And it's such a blessing. And I think the answer to my question probably lies within this, quote, social media, as a panacea for loneliness and as a simple indulgence in solitude. Very interesting thought

@Dewuan

Everyone. Thank you for your response and sharing your approach to social media. Amaya as a social media has been purely, you know, as a platform for activism in some cases, and rather reaching out to friends, peers or family, catching up with updates on what's been happening at their end. But I find that with Swell, I feel that voice as a medium might also be adding on subtler layers to a persona, and I find that voice feels so much more genuine

@rachel

Rachel, the metamorphosis of social media into a marketing tool from platforms that are essentially about community building, as you put it, has been a huge leap, definitely. And we are all now aware of this and do factor in a lot of this as we go about using social media for our needs. As you put it. In my case, I'm not an avid user of social media per se
